Headquartered in beautiful Sandy Springs, Ga. near the Chattahoochee River, and with facilities in Fulton and Gwinnett Counties, Mary Hall Freedom Village has been transforming lives of participants in need for the last 26 years. It was on June 1, 1996, the founder & CEO, opened the doors to the first 2 women. Here, 26 years later Mary Hall Freedom Village is serving 250 participants and 80 children across 7 programs. MHFV has transformed the lives of over 15,000 individuals, not to mention their families and communities. Job Title: Program Service Counselor I
Department: Clinical
Reports To: Chief Program Officer and Clinical Director
FLSA: Non-exempt
Summary: Counsels and aids individuals and families requiring assistance dealing with substance abuse problems, such as alcohol or drug abuse, by performing the following duties.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities: Includes the following as well as other duties that may by assigned:
Interviews participants, reviews records, and confers with other professionals to evaluate condition of participant.
Formulates program for treatment and rehabilitation.
Counsels participants individually and in-group sessions to assist with overcoming alcohol and drug dependency.
Counsels family members to assist family in dealing with and providing support for participant.
Refers participant to other support services as needed such as medical evaluation and treatment, social services and employment services.
Monitors participant condition to evaluate success of therapy and adapts treatment as needed.
Prepares and maintains reports and case histories.
Formulates and conducts programs to promote prevention of alcohol and drug abuse.
Tracks progress and attendance and shares this information in a weekly multi-disciplinary.
Utilizes an electronic health record system for progress notes, individual notes, treatment plans and discharge plans. Enters this data timely and accurately.
Required to work one evening shift. Additional evening shifts may be required as needed.
Will rotate with other clinicians as facilitator for Family Day.
Maintains current credentials, licensing and CEU’s as required for position.
Supervisory Responsibilities: None
Education and/or Experience
Master’s degree (MA/MS/M.Ed.) with five to ten years’ related experience and/or training in clinical settings (behavioral health facility, psychiatric hospital, etc.); or equivalent combinations of education and experience preferred. Professional Licensure in the State of Georgia preferred.
Qualifications
Must be able to pass background screening which includes fingerprinting and drug testing. To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. Must have a good 3-year Motor Vehicle Report. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or abilities required. Physical Requirements
Must be physically able to perform the essential functions of the job which may require long periods of sitting, standing, stooping, bending, twisting, reaching, pulling/pushing, grasping, repetitive motions, walking up and down stairs, use of telephone, working under pressure and working rapidly for long periods. Position requires close work; finger dexterity; good vision, hearing, and oral communication.
