The Business & Computer Science Department of Clackamas Community College announces the availability of one full-time Project Management faculty position beginning Fall quarter of 2023.

The College

CCC is a comprehensive community college in the Portland metro area that provides transfer degree programs, career programs, community education classes, developmental education, and training programs for business and industry. The Business & Computer Science department resides in the Arts & Sciences Division.

The Department

The Business & Computer Science Department, which uses a lead instructor approach, offers a wide range of business courses for business majors and non-majors. There are four full-time business instructors in the department. The College and the Department have a long-standing history of collective decision-making and does so with a central goal in mind - students must come first.

The Department:

• Seeks to implement student-centered teaching and learning models and encourage students' authority in the learning process.
• Makes a strong effort to be flexible with our schedules, teaching locations, and teaching modalities.
• Value low-cost materials, either curated or developed, both to save students money and to expand what learning looks like without traditional textbooks.

We offer courses to our students in a variety of modes to reflect the needs of our students. Classes are taught online, in-person, and hybrid (a blend of both online and in-person learning). These teaching modalities reflect the fact that many of our students are working full and part-time, are parents of young children, or have obligations for which various course modalities are required.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

The project management instructor's responsibilities will include:

• serving as the lead faculty for the Project Management program
• developing materials for teaching in varying class modalities (i.e., in-person, online, hybrid)
• academic advising of students
• maintaining currency of the curriculum and program
• program assessment and program review
• facilitating program advisory committee meetings
• outreach to industry
• helping with internships & Cooperative Work Experience (CWE);
• participating in departmental meetings and functioning as a team player
• participating in college committees as well as departmental advisory and other committees
• participating in professional organizations that lead to better instruction and advising for students.

It is important that the instructor be broad in teaching capabilities and willing to assist where needed to enhance the department's strengths, goals, and growth. A successful candidate will be a creative, collaborative, and participatory faculty member with an expertise in project management and who brings a passion for teaching and a desire to support and mentor CCC students.

MINIMUM EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:

• Bachelor's degree in business or project management, with Project Management certification (PMP or equivalent) and a minimum of 5 years of direct experience in project management.
• Teaching and/or training experience.
• Ability to exemplify traits that reflect the College's culture, including integrity, a customer service orientation, cultural competency, trustworthiness, flexibility and a willingness to change.

DESIRABLE QUALIFICATIONS:

• MBA or related graduate degree
• Ability and desire to teach project management, (including the use of Microsoft Project and other online project management software platforms), Introduction to Business, and other business administration classes as needed.
• Ability to communicate effectively and work cooperatively with colleagues and staff.
• Commitment to teaching as a profession and to ongoing professional development.
• Enthusiastic outgoing program advocate with ideas and energy for program marketing/growth
• Experience developing curriculum and designing courses, including online and special needs classes.
• Recent experience working in business and industry.
• Experience in use of technology, including digital presentation systems, in classroom presentations.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS OF POSITION:

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:

Supervision of other personnel is not a typical function assigned to this position. May provide training and orientation to newly assigned personnel and may assign work to student workers.
