Our On-Site Services Division is supporting one of the country's foremost refinery and suppliers of fuels with its need for a Project Engineer. Our On-Site Division places highly skilled engineers, designers, project managers and other technical personnel with specific industry expertise and knowledge across disciplines to meet the needs of our clients.
The Project Engineer’s primary focus is to conceptualize, design, coordinate and manage through start-up, the Construction Projects for the Capital Projects Group. All work will be performed in compliance with company standards, procedures, and government requirements.
Qualifications/Responsibilities:
- Develops project objectives by reviewing project proposals and plans; conferring with management.
- Determines project responsibilities by identifying project phases and elements; assigning personnel to phases and elements; reviewing bids from contractors.
- Assist Planner to determine project schedule by studying project plan and specifications; calculating time requirements; sequencing project elements.
- Maintains project schedule by monitoring project progress with Planner; coordinating activities; resolving problems.
- Controls project plan by reviewing design, specifications, and plan and schedule changes; recommending actions.
- Assist Cost Analyst with project costs by approving expenditures; administering contractor contracts.
- Works closely with draftsmen, pipe designers, and engineers to develop accurate and concise P&ID, PFD, cause/effect and other drawings as required by the project. Reviews and approves all drawings up through construction.
- Must be able to develop project scopes, estimate project costs, and prepare funding requests.
- Must be proficient in developing project budgets and controlling costs.
- Must be able to prepare bid requests and evaluate such based-on sound engineering and business principles.
- Must be capable of providing equipment specifications per Equity Engineering Spec’s and procure appropriate materials for projects.
- Perform line sizing calculations.
- Sizing of equipment i.e. heat exchangers, pumps distillation tower, filtration equipment, etc.
- Participate in HAZOP’s.
- A comprehensive knowledge of relevant legal regulations.
- Maintaining a clean Environmental and safety record and overseeing the resolution of any problems.
- Making sure all legal requirements are adhered to.
- Running regular team meetings and maintaining team activity and morale.
- Liaising with third parties such as external contractors around time scales and working practices.
- Prepared and reviewed contract documents, construction drawings and specifications for code compliance and construction procedures.
Requirements:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineer (or related field)
- 4-8 years of Project Engineering experience in an industrial environment (Refining, Blending, Petrochemical, Chemical, Power, etc)
