PT Med Tech for AM Weekends.
General Responsibilities
To provide care for the residents in the Assisted Living Facility that meets or exceeds the needs of the residents in accordance to company and regulatory requirements. Administer medications as outlined on the Medication Administration Record.
Qualifications
- Must be able to read, write and speak in English
- Current Care Giver Certificate & Experience/training in Medication Administration
- Experience in care giving is preferred but not required
- Current and on-going documentation as required by regulatory agencies
- Current First Aid
- Current CPR
- Current T.B. Test
- Current Food handlers Card
- Current Fingerprint Card
Specific Duties
- Clock in and out per scheduled shifts and times.
- Shift to Shift Reporting:
- Read the communication log if the off going shift did not give you report.
- Count medications with the out-going shift
- Must stay awake during shift.
- Answer telephones timely and professionally
- Answer the phone using the following phrase: “Springdale Assisted Living, how may I help you?”
- Review and assist with the ADL’s and meals for each resident
- Prepare your medication cart before starting med pass. This will include medication supplies, water, yogurt/or apple sauce and one of the portable phones/radio.
- Medication Administration:
- Pass medications and document any refusal or missed medication.
- Notify physician when appropriate (I.E. refusal of medication, missed or not available medications.
- Once med pass is complete, report any changes, discrepancies, med errors or anything out of the ordinary to the manager or designee. If necessary notify Physician!
- Transporting resident to and from activities and meals as necessary.
- Check for medications that are about to run out. If a med needs to be filled call the pharmacy. All medications must be ordered 7 days prior to running out.
- Notify the manager or designee if a resident is refusing medications, out of a medication or a change in their medication.
- Clean the top of the med cart and empty the trash. Refill water pitcher and any supplies such as water cups, souffl cups, spoons, etc.
- Complete communication log on each shift.
- In-Services
- Each caregiver is required to complete in-services as required by state regulation and facility policy.
Other Items
- Participate in daily meetings as scheduled
- Assist in activities as needed
- Attend staff meetings as scheduled
- Complete other duties as assigned
