The Community Health Services Division is seeking a Public Health Nurse I to join its home visitation team. This position is in our Family Connects International Universal Home Visiting Program which aims to support to parents following the birth of a new child.

This position involves providing universal home visitation services working with a dynamic team of public health professionals and community partners. The home visitation program uses a nationally recognized, evidence-based model known as Family Connects International.

Responsibilities include completing designated assessments of mother, baby and the family’s health, identifying needs and strengths, providing health teaching and education, providing support and advocacy and providing referrals as needed during one to three home visits within the first three weeks following the birth of the baby.

It is beneficial to have experience working with post-partum women, infants, diverse populations, and families with multiple needs. Must be willing to advocate for a positive, and nurturing home environment.

Qualifications: Requires graduation from a baccalaureate degree nursing program accredited by the National League of Nursing.

Necessary Specialist Requirements: Possession of a valid license to practice as a Registered Nurse in the State of Nebraska. Possession of a valid driver’s license.

To be eligible for insurance benefits, employees must work at least 30 hours per week.

To be eligible for the retirement plan, employees must work at least 20 hours per week.

Temporary, seasonal, and unclassified employees are not eligible for benefits.
