R&D Manager – JBS Value Add

The JBS Value Add team is seeking a R&D Manager who will utilize creative problem-solving skills to lead projects regarding product innovation. The primary responsibility of this role is the creation of new fresh or frozen pork, beef, and chicken products that are packaged to be sold in Retail/Club, National, and Industrial Channels for Branded and Non-Branded products. This role will have management responsibilities with the current support team and will be located at JBS Corporate Headquarters in Greeley, CO.

Responsibilities:

• Direct the coordinated development of new products and improvements of current products to deliver on objectives of the annual business plans
• Identify & create gold standards
• Work with suppliers for ingredients and internal/external plants for raw materials
• Align with sales/marketing and packaging on final product attributes
• Plan and conduct plant tests
• Evaluate data and set final product parameters
• Ensure accurate product information input to Cost Accounting to maintain the integrity of data entered into manufacturing management system
• Provide creative solutions to solve challenges in development and commercialization
• Conduct sensory panels for product development, shelf-life studies, improving/maintaining present products and competitive testing
• Identify and evaluate ingredients, suppliers and co-packer capabilities relevant to meeting project objectives and meeting JBS's standards
• Be knowledgeable on current market trends through participation in food shows, sales meeting, technical presentations, reviewing periodicals, and partnerships with suppliers.
• Maintain a working knowledge of current USDA and FDA regulations as they relate to the food processing industry
• Owner of product specifications in SAP
• Document all testing procedures and prepare recommended production procedures
• Other duties as assigned

Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s Degree in Meat Science/Food Science or related field required. Master’s degree preferred.
• Minimum of 7 years in fresh/frozen pork, beef, or chicken product development in a production or related facility required
• Ability to travel up to 40-50% of time to production facilities
• Ability to work in accordance with Global Food Safety Initiative standards such BRC or SQF and Quality Systems
• Mature, enthusiastic, motivated individual contributor who can manage multiple projects across teams
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications (Power Point, Excel and Word)
• As a salaried position with the company, you may be required to travel at some point to other facilities, to attend Company events, or as a representative of the Company in other situations. Unless otherwise specified in this posting, the amount of travel may vary and the most qualified candidate must be willing and able to travel as business needs dictate.

The applicant who fills this position will be eligible for the following compensation and benefits:

• Benefits: Vision, Medical, and Dental coverage begin after 60 days of employment;
• Paid Time Off: sick leave, vacation, and 6 company observed holidays;
• 401(k): company match begins after the first year of service and follows the company vesting schedule;
• Base salary range of $115,000 - $130,000; and
• Incentive Pay: This position is eligible to participate in the Company’s annual bonus plan, the amount of bonus varies and is subject to the standard terms and conditions of the incentive program;
