Marathon Petroleum Company LP has an opening for a Technical Service Engineer within the Technical Services Department at its refinery located in Anacortes, Washington. This position is part of an Engineering Technical Ladder with multiple levels. The successful candidate will be placed at a level commensurate with experience and qualifications.
We are seeking a motivated, team-oriented Process Engineer to provide technical support for the site and to support new project development and implementation. This includes identifying short- and long-term process changes to improve unit(s) profitability and optimize efficiency.
SUMMARY

Provide daily troubleshooting and optimization assistance to Operations to optimize various unit technologies for maximum reliability, profitability, and availability.

Lead Management of Change reviews with an understanding of hazard identification and risk mitigation.

Oversee the Technical Excellence program and coordinate submissions.

Lead more complex refinery-wide studies.

Participates in identification of short- and long-term process changes to improve unit(s) profitability and optimize efficiency. Conducts process operations analysis and economic evaluation using simulation software.

Must have physical ability to perform all essential job duties and work extended hours, including nights and weekends in process operations environment. Work may be conducted during periods of inclement weather. Must have physical ability to access all areas of the refinery including use of stairs and/or ladders to inspect critical process and mechanical equipment. Must be available to respond to upset conditions during off-hours.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Bachelor’s degree (or above) in chemical engineering from an accredited institution.

Three or more years of related experience required

Must be authorized to work in the US without the need for employment visa sponsorship now or in the future

A valid driver’s license is required
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
-
4-10 years of post-degree engineering experience in a refinery or chemical plant with some project experience.

Proficiencies: Process simulation (HYSIS, PetroSim, etc), technical writing, PSM knowledge, and a strong understanding of refinery economics and project justification
