**IMPORTANT INFORMATION REGARDING CALCULATION OF PAY: The annual pay for this position is pro-rated based on the effective date of the assignment
Bachelor's Degree from an accredited four-year college or university
Establish relationships with refugee/asylee families through clear communication among the parents, staff, and community. Provide a bridge of ongoing support to ensure that the refugee/asylee student and families are connected with the most appropriate resources to be effective in school.
1. Establishes relationships between the families and school to create a bridge of communication.
2. Conducts professional learning opportunities for both families as well as school personnel regarding (cultural, linguistic, health, and familial) impacting student's performance and behavior.
3. Provides informational training to the parents, support groups, District Outreach events.
4. Assists families with appropriate resources and services provided in the community.
5. Creates small group sessions with students to learn appropriate social skills and receive opportunities to generalize the newly learned skills in appropriate settings.
6. Generates intervention strategies in collaboration with staff to meet the student's fullest potential linguistically and cognitively.
7. Participates in conferences to continue seeking research based practices that support the students linguistic, cognitive, and affective filters.
8. Provides information to the families about their rights and responsibilities under federal and state.
9. Supports the school as well as the family with appropriate resources to assist with overall well-being of the child.
10. Maintains documentation of interaction with families and students to be submitted for the grant.
11. Collaborates with other departments to create family involvement activities.
12. Identifies and reports child abuse and neglect.
13. Maintains confidentiality of records/information.
14. Reports to work on time every day.
14. Performs additional duties and responsibilities as may be assigned.
QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS:
* Knowledge of refugees/asylees
- Willing to interact with culturally diverse populations
- Skills to collaborate, consult, and communicate with a diverse community, district staff, and parents
- Strong organizational skills,
- Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from different stakeholders
- Capacity to provide individuals and group counseling skills
- Awareness and ability to obtain community resources
- Valid Texas Driver's License that meets the requirements of the District
