Required Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree, preferably with formal study in biological sciences, biochemistry, molecular biology, or related discipline or a combination of related education and work experience to equal four years.
- Relevant hands-on lab experience to include molecular biology (PCR), histology and fluorescent imaging.
- Working knowledge of physiology, cellular and molecular biology (both principles and techniques) and the ability to apply this knowledge
- Inquisitive, motivated, organized (able to recognize and prioritize work) and responsible.
- Willing to work with animals.
The R1 will be supervised by Dr. Ruan, performing structured research-related work assignments.

Expected to perform a variety of molecular analyses (working with DNA, RNA, and PCR) and protein biochemistry techniques (i.e. western blotting), histology (cryo and microtome sectioning and immunohistochemistry), cell culture, and animal studies.
Responsibilities will also include maintenance of transgenic mouse lines, including basic husbandry (optional), genotyping, and assistance with tissue harvesting and in vivo experiments in mice.

Prepare stock solutions for the lab; participate in lab duty rotations
Train new lab members and help the PI mentor a group of undergraduate assistants.
Data analyses, assist in manuscript/grant writing.
