Position Information
To provide a vibrant Student Life experience within the Residence Halls through planning and implementation of activities, supervision, and training of the residence hall staff, and advising to the Residence Hall Association. To help all students appreciate life and learning and contribute meaningfully to the lives of others.
Position Description & Details
Statement of duty/responsibility:
Hire, train, and provide direct supervision of Student Staff working within Residence Life.
- Responsible for the recruitment, hiring, supervision, and evaluation of RMs, RAs, and RHDs applying to work within Residence Life
- Organize and facilitate training for the RMs, RAs, and RHDs hired to work within Residence Life
- Assist in ongoing staff development measures and training.
- Assist in the assessment of development needs for all Residence Life Staff.
- Assist in the training and development efforts for the RHA executive board, and hall Representatives.
- Offer advisement and guidance to RHA officers and representatives. Assist with motivation, goal setting, and organizational development.
- Serve as an advisor to at least one subcommittee through RHA
- Attend RHA meetings and programs • Assist in the development of programs in conjunction with other offices on campus.
- Assist with recruitment and retention efforts
- Assist in promoting stimulating civic engagement and service-learning efforts.
- Assess student satisfaction with residence hall services to ensure an engaging campus atmosphere for student life that integrates living and learning.
Assist in the development and implementation of residence hall and apartment policies and judicial practices. Act as a primary judicial officer for the Residence Life Office
- Respond and intervene in crisis situations and campus policy intervention.
- Serve as an on-call administrator for on-campus housing.
- Promote the development of students’ ethical and moral behavior in the residence life community, the classroom, and the greater campus and Minot community.
- Be available for assistance in response to disciplinary issues including availability to answer questions and support on evenings and weekends.
- Act as a liaison between students and other campus offices.
- Maintain and update student judicial records utilizing the Conduct Software.
- Work closely with the implementation of the current program model.
- Work with residence life staff, students, and other offices to evaluate and assess current program practices
- Work closely with other offices, students, and organizations for the implementation, growth, and assessment of Living and Learning Communities.
- Make recommendations for future practices regarding the program and LLC structure.
- Compile reports that reflect programming efforts throughout the residence life operation.
Minimum Requirements
Backelor's Degree Required. Master's Degree Preferred
Required Residence Life Experience - Supervisory Experience Preferred
