Center for Human Development, Inc. is seeking a full-time Rural School Mental Health Therapist to provide school-based psychotherapeutic services to students K-12 suffering from emotional or mental disorders, or facilitate these children receiving such services. This position is located in the Elgin High School and is scheduled year-round for 40 hours per week.

The Requirements:

• Master's degree in a social sciences field.

• Licensure preferred but not required.

• Two years of relevant mental health experience required.
• Meets requirements of a Qualified Mental Health Professional.
• Certified as an Alcohol and Drug Counselor or must begin certification process upon hire.
• Communicate effectively verbally and in writing.
• Knowledge of practices, principles and philosophy of mental health treatment, motivational interviewing, assessment, treatment plans and DSM V diagnoses, computer basics and crisis counseling.
• Must possess a valid driver’s license and pass all criminal history check requirements and drug screenings.
• Must be willing to complete PCIT training and provide PCIT services to the local community population.

The Job Duties:

• Assessment and screening of adolescents.
• Brief individual counseling sessions for referred students in grades K-12.
• Facilitate family meetings.
• Participate in IEP or school team meetings when requested.
• Classroom presentations.
• Educate/Remind staff yearly about referral process/policies (confidentiality limits etc.)
• Consultation with teachers, administrators, regarding student behaviors, concerns.
• Follow-up on referrals from Staff, parents, students.
• Making parental calls regarding referred students under age 14.
• Making and taking parental calls regarding student behavioral concerns.
• Develop format and gather curriculum for specific population groups.
• Weekly consultation with Behavior Health Team crisis and family treatment teams.
• Participate in group and one-on-one supervision as appropriate.
• Makes referrals to other community clinics or agencies as appropriate.
• Understand agency productivity requirements and comply as appropriate.
• Other duties as assigned.
