Position: Safety Engineer
Location: Dublin South (Hybrid Work)

This Role

As the Safety Engineer, you will own the Health and Safety function and be responsible for improving the health and safety of our field teams who work in data centres, advancing the companies’ safety culture, and protecting our employees while in their workplaces.

This role is for an experienced Safety Officer or Safety Engineer. The role's prime responsibility will be to support the safety operations inside the client's Data Centers and facilities. You will partner with colleagues, contractors, and customers to achieve health and safety goals and improve our already strong safety culture. You will work in a fast-paced environment where our clients' requirements rapidly change. You will advocate safety changes to prepare for new infrastructure, tools, and products/processes.

You must be an effective communicator, sending clear, concise and consistent messages verbally, in written form, and/or in public speaking forums.

Role Requirements & Responsibilities

  • Develop/Implement safety standards, policies and best practices.
  • Ensure facility & infrastructure safety compliance
  • Consult and work with compliance teams on safety regulations interpretations and investigations.
  • Provision and management of training: development/provision of inductions, arrangements and record keeping of required safety tickets/certificates (e.g. manual handling, safe pass, refresher courses etc.)
  • Develop and deliver training/presentations to support achieving H&S objectives.
  • Management of these training on training database for all employees, ensuring all H&S training requirements are fulfilled.
  • Ensure safety record keeping and provide accurate reporting and metrics to support business safety initiatives.
  • Collaborate with vendors to ensure safety standards and policies are adhered to
  • Ensure compliance and implementation of corporate safety programs and local regulatory legislation.
  • Develop and review safety plans for on-site emergencies, special events and other unique safety situations.
  • Perform safety data analysis and create benchmarks.
  • Implement and manage SOR and incident reporting system
  • Analyse and action on SORs and routine safety audits
  • Conduct job/task hazard analysis and job safety analysis
  • Conduct incident investigations directly or collaborate with clients' investigations
  • Develop and implement solutions to eliminate exposure to risks and prevent injury.
  • Adapt to fast-paced environments with changing circumstances, direction, strategy and deadlines
  • Able to work as part of a team and provide safety support to regions across Europe when required • Flexible and able to travel

Candidate Requirements

Ability to be flexible in respect of work standards and demands. Capable of working under pressure at times and to strict deadlines. Ability to complete tasks. Resilient and able to deal with changing priorities. The successful candidate will be required to possess and demonstrate:

  • University degree in Environmental Science / Health and Safety / similar field or working towards one.
  • Minimum 2+ years of field experience in safety.

The following qualifications, skills and experience would be an advantage.

  • Experience with MS SharePoint in a corporate environment.
  • Experience/knowledge of implementing safety programmes, processes and procedural documentation.
  • Considerable knowledge of local safety and health regulatory laws, investigations, and workplace safety practices.
  • Data centre, manufacturing, construction, or similar industry safety experience with a mix of full-time employees and 3rd party contractors.
  • High ethical standards with proven ability to handle highly confidential and sensitive information; excellent judgment, discretion and diplomacy.
  • Ability to develop and implement department goals and strategies.
  • Strong analytical skills with demonstrated problem-solving ability
  • Knowledge or experience of ISO 45001

Working hours: Monday to Friday (Hybrid working Environment)
Salary: €65,000 - €70,000 per year (DOE)
