Description

Provides skilled and manual labor to safely operate heavy equipment to maintain highways, bridges, gravel roads, parks and right of way. Performs routine maintenance, diagnostics and minor repairs of vehicles and heavy equipment.

Essential Duties

• Safely operates light and heavy equipment to perform road and bridge maintenance functions.
• Operation of motor grader to include blading and shaping of gravel roads.
• Operation of motor grader to include reshaping of aggregate shoulders on paved highways.
• Check roads for safety hazards, traffic problems and condition of signs (observing general condition and assessing needs).
• Performs equipment inspections as required by Minnesota Law and County Policy.
• Performs routine maintenance on all types of light and heavy equipment.
• Performs traffic control set-ups and/or provides notification to dispatch of disabled vehicles.
• Performs other comparable duties of a like or similar nature as assigned.

Education and/or Experience:
High school diploma or general education degree (GED) and one year of related experience performing activities in, road surface maintenance, roadside maintenance, bridge maintenance, signs or related activities (roadway maintenance, driving commercial vehicles, landscaping, operating heavy equipment or farm experience).

A valid driver's license is required.

Pay: $20.38 - $28.26 per hour
