NuMotion is seeking a Senior Benefits Specialist to join our growing team.

The Human Resources Senior Benefits Specialist leads the administration of the company’s health and welfare programs, including medical, dental, vision, HSA, FSA, COBRA, life insurance, disability, 401(k), as well as management of leave of absences such as FMLA, ADAAA, and personal leaves.

Benefits Administration:

  • Resolve employee issues related to health and welfare plans, and exercise judgment as to when to escalate to vendor for resolution.
  • Provide general solutions to employee inquiries by providing materials and recommendations to other resources (including third-party benefits administrator). Leverage the Benefits Coordinator for general employee inquiries.
  • Partner with Benefits Manager and benefits brokers to develop benefits education and communication to ensure that employee benefit and wellness initiatives / programs are being communicated in an effective manner.
  • Assist in defining a strategic outlook to current and future benefit offerings. Suggest changes that align with the company’s values, Federal and State regulations, PPACA, and other regulatory requirements.
  • Working with Benefits Manager, plan and implement annual open enrollment, including benefits fairs.
  • Assist with all aspects of the firm’s 401(k) retirement plan administration, including but not limited to loan and withdrawal approvals and the annual 401(k) audits.
  • Develop, produce, and distribute reports for management and compliance purposes.
  • Partner with benefits brokers and carriers on plan issues, administration, claims issues, and compliance activities.
  • Manage projects related to benefit and wellness programs and special projects as assigned.

Leave Coordination:

  • Provide information to employees and management about leave process. Provide guidance to Benefits Coordinator about leave process.
  • Coordinate and track leaves, including FMLA, personal, jury duty, and other state leaves, and monitor the leave life cycle (from initial request through return to work), including exhaustion and approvals.
  • Work with employees on ADA interactive process, responding to accommodation requests, and exercising judgment accordingly.
  • Collaborate with management, HR, Payroll and Legal on both complex and routine leave cases and accommodation requests as necessary. Provide recommendations and exercises judgment in leave management.
  • Interpret leave and disability policy and regulations and leverage third-party leave administrator in managing leave cases.
  • Develop and monitor best practices relating to leave administration, particularly in areas of compliance, based on procedures and policy, and Federal and State requirements.
  • Recommend and design ways to improve current processes.

QUALIFICATIONS AND COMPETENCIES:

  • Bachelor's degree in a related area strongly preferred or equivalent work experience
  • 4+ years’ experience with benefits and leave administration experience, multi-state leave administration a plus
  • Thorough understanding of state and federal regulations relating to benefit plans and applicable laws relating to benefit administration (including COBRA, HIPAA, and ERISA); able to effectively work within company policies and state/federal laws.
  • Working knowledge of Federal and State leave of absence laws and regulations
  • Demonstrated experience and proficiency using automated systems to administer benefit programs, with ability to identify discrepancies and make recommendations
  • Highly organized and detail-oriented professional who can work independently, and also can function as a team member both within HR and cross-functionally
  • Energetic, driven personality with a demonstrated ability to take initiative, successfully handle and prioritize multiple competing assignments and effectively manage deadlines
  • An innovative problem-solver who proactively identifies ways to improve processes
  • Ability to maintain employee confidentiality and be sensitive to employee leaves and accommodations.
  • Experience with ADP highly preferred
  • Intermediate experience with Excel
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office applications; ability to learn other applications as defined by department needs, including web based presentations
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
