The BIS Discipline is recognised nationally and internationally for excellence in research and teaching through scholarly contribution to academia, industry and contributing to the wider society. The discipline consistently ranks in the top 150 universities in the world in Information Systems, according to the QS World University Rankings by Subject (Computer Science and Information Systems). Discipline staff have recently published in journals such as Information Systems Research, Journal of the Association of Information Systems, Information Systems Journal, European Journal of Information Systems, and Journal of Information Technology. The discipline incorporates the University of Galway branch of Lero, the Science Foundation Ireland Research Centre for Software, a previous winner of the TCSE Distinguished Synergy Award by the IEEE Computer Society Technical Council on Software Engineering (TCSE). The discipline currently offers two taught masters programmes (MSc in Business Analytics and the MSc in Information Systems Management) and will launch a new MSc Cybersecurity Risk Management in September 2023. The discipline also delivers the four-year undergraduate EFMD-accredited BSc BIS degree programme.

Salary: € 75,382- €106,825 (applicable to new entrants effective from January, 2011)(This appointment will be made on the Senior Lecturer scale in line with current Government pay policy)
