Pay Rate
  • $16.68/hour - $26.31/ hour based on experience

Job Description
  • Ask questions of the patient and others in order to establish a nursing history by following a set of structured inquiries.
  • Perform basic physical assessments in order to establish initial values for vital signs and other nursing observations by following standard assessment procedures.
  • Assist physicians in conducting examinations and providing treatments by setting up and holding instruments, restraining or positioning patients, collecting specimens for laboratory tests, and may perform venipuncture to obtain a blood sample.
  • Gain the patient's cooperation and allay fears in order to promote emotional and physical well-being by observing the emotional stability of the patient, expressing interest in the patient's progress, and explaining procedures and treatments.
  • Update the nursing care plan in order to ensure continuity of care by recording the nursing needs of patients and by reporting to the supervisor or physician, the patient's condition and reaction to drugs, treatments, and significant incidents.
  • Perform patient care duties in order to assist in patient recovery by answering patient lights, turning bedfast patients at specified intervals, assisting patients onto or from hospital carts or wheelchairs, changing dressings under the supervision of a Registered Nurse, and performing other related duties as assigned and permitted.
  • May complete unit/department-specific duties as outlined in department documents.
Required Qualifications
Graduate professional nurse (GN) who was unsuccessful on the NCLEX licensing exam by the Board of Nursing. The staff member must make an effort to sit for each consecutive exam for which they are eligible. The maximum time a staff member may remain in this classification is one (1) year.
Additional license/certification requirements as determined by the hiring department.

Physical Demands
The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met with or without reasonable accommodation. The performance of these physical demands is an essential function of the job. This position is very active and requires ambulating, reaching, and moving objects weighing up to and over 20 lbs. This role also routinely comes into contact with patients who may have contagious illnesses. This position is in a health care facility open 24 hours a day, 365 days a year. Rotating shifts as well as holiday and work during inclement weather will be required.
