About the role

As Senior Project Manager in our Transportation Department, you will report to the Head of Transportation and support the delivery and growth of our transportation business.

The role will initially involve the management of projects internationally and coordinating the submission of new business opportunities internationally but also in Ireland as we try to establish a market presence in the local economy.

With most projects located in Sub Saharan Africa, it would be an advantage if you have a track record of successfully delivering projects in this region and an excellent understanding of local markets and donor funding agencies such as the World Back, EIB and European Union.

Core role requirements:

Below represents the core responsibilities of this role; this is by no means an exhaustive list:

• The role will encompass all aspects of effective Project Management and will vary from time to time to meet the needs of the business.
• Resource Management - Identifying key resource that are required for existing or future projects and coordinating with our tender and recruitment teams to fill these roles.

• Management of existing contracts which will include
  • Liaising with existing team leaders
  • Management of project resources
  • Coordinating in country logistics with our business support teams
• Complete financial management of projects including cash flow analysis, invoice coordination, tracking of payments, management of sub-consultants etc all in collaboration with our team leaders and finance department.
• Business Development including (and not limited to):
  • Targeted business development in line with the approved strategy.
  • Tracking opportunities
  • You will assist in the coordination of pre-qualifications and tender submissions for review and approval of the Head of Department including the delivery of high-quality submissions and financial proposals for approval including writing or coordinating the writing of technical material as necessary and coordinating site visits as required with the support of our tender and recruitment teams.
  • Working with other departments to support tendering and delivery of our other services in regions where we have a transportation presence and vice versa.
• Supporting the Head of Department and our finance department in the establishment and management of branch offices and local branch accounts where appropriate.
• Client relationship management which may involve meeting new and/or prospective clients and also managing the expectations and requirements of existing clients.
• Work with our HSQE department to ensure the transportation division, including site teams adhere to Health, Safety, Quality and Environmental Procedures.
• Provide high-level oversight and guidance of design teams.
• Other duties and responsibilities as the role evolves’.

While based in our Dublin office we expect the role will involve regular international travel to countries where projects or potential projects and teams will be located. Currently this is limited to Africa but we expect this may grow to other regions depending on the successful implementation of the developed business strategy.

Qualifications and Experience:-

Training & Education

• The ideal candidate will be a Chartered Engineer with a minimum of 10 years’ experience with at least 5 years at a senior level responsible for delivering major infrastructure projects, preferrable in the international markets and transportation sector.
• High calibre candidates with less experience and different sectoral experience will also be considered.
• You will be responsible for managing and progressing multiple projects from project brief through to completion on schedule. You will coordinate and manage resources, finances and client relationships in consultation with the Head of Department.

Technical Knowledge

• You will have mastered technical competence in Project and Contract Management and provide direction where required.
• In consultation with the Head of Department, this role will represent the firm in technical and contractual matters related to projects in meetings and correspondence.
• While the role is predominately project and contract management, candidates with a proven track record in design and design coordination of transportation projects will have an advantage.
• Knowledge of and experience in the use of FIDIC, NEC and other forms of contract will be an added advantage.

• You will be capable of mentoring and guiding teams on their approach to problem solving and their work.

Management

• You will have experience in creating, tracking & delivering plans relevant to your team and ensure teams works coherently and collaboratively to deliver multiple plans.
• You shall be an effective communicator who has a proven track record managing internal and external resources, either individually or in teams and developing strong client relationships.
• Managing remote teams including on-site logistics would be a distinct advantage.
