The Quality Technician is accountable for Quality Control, maintenance and compliance to applicable Quality Systems. This position actively participates in quality guidance, product resolution decisions and statistical problem-solving techniques. The incumbent reports to the Quality Supervisor and/or Quality Manager.


Potential Task Assignments within the scope of this position:

Coordination of test protocols and reports on a project level.

  • Coordinates project testing.

  • Maintains accurate data, analyzes and assists in drawing conclusions.

  • Provides process/test method training to Manufacturing/QC personnel and other technicians. Develops and documents training programs.

  • Develops and maintains a working knowledge of BD policies and procedures and ISO and FDA requirements.

  • Independently develops and coordinates new design concepts for fixtures, tooling and equipment. Recommends, specifies and procures capital equipment.

  • Coordinates on a project level, multiple Development Builds.

  • Develops new tests.

  • May present data findings to management or peers.

Provide direction and coordination to quality associate and quality clerks relative to specific quality focus areas:

  • including documentation, testing and inspection, product and process development, and non-conforming product investigations.

  • Will assist in the support of Manufacturing, New Product Development and Regulatory to ensure systems are in compliance with all internal and external guidelines.

  • Ensure compliance to Document and Record Control procedures.

  • Collaborates with functional process owners to train, mentor and/or facilitate QMS requirements and continuous improvement.

  • Share best practices and tools to accelerate continual quality improvement into DC organization locally and across the region, initiating lessons learned and best practice concepts; to introduce pro-active improvement and prevent recurrence of issues.

  • Other duties as assigned

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

This position is in an office and laboratory environment and requires the incumbent to sit, stand and perform general office functions. The incumbent may also be required to lift up to twenty five pounds occasionally. The incumbent may be required to stand for extended periods of time. Bending, stooping and reaching are also frequently required.

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE:

  • High School diploma required; Associate's preferred

  • A minimum of 4 years relevant experience in Quality, preferable in Medical Device and/or Pharmaceutical regulated industry OR Associate’s Degree in Science, Math or Engineering and 2 years of related experience

  • Working knowledge and application of ISO 13485 and 21 CFR 820 preferred

  • Ability to work with little or no supervision

  • Advanced proficiency in personal computer software, especially Minitab and Excel

  • Ability to work in a team

  • Ability to analyze and evaluate data and recommend actions

  • Ability to provide inputs for technical reports and protocols

  • Ability to coordinate test protocols

  • Ability to troubleshoot and propose solutions when a problem occurs in testing

  • Ability to operate laboratory equipment within the area of assigned responsibilities

  • Master proficiency in testing
