The Job Details are as follows:
The Entity Management Systems team is seeking a Senior Software Engineer to be part of a high energy team building OCLC’s linked data cataloguing interfaces and APIs. Surrounded by enthusiastic developers, testers and architects, you will have the opportunity to collaborate across a global technology division of more than 300 employees. You will help make our processes and technology choices; drive the business and architectural roadmap; and, in support of development managers, and ensure technical solutions that deliver on overall value goals (including performance, maintainability and supportability).
In course of the job, you will:
- Assist in developing, interpreting, and refining product requirements
- Use industry standard techniques, craft implementation strategies, code and test them within the applications and services ecosystem in a timely manner
- Participate in unit, system and acceptance testing by designing tests, building test data, test execution and evaluation, along with recommending and making improvements or fixes to the tested systems
- Contribute to long-term code maintainability through peer review
- Provide support for the applications and services as needed
- Champion the use of the latest innovations in API’s and UI development
- Participate in design and code reviews
- Plan and assist in load, capacity, and performance analysis and/or testing.
- Support the application in production as needed
- Contribute to architectural reviews
- Act as a mentor to continuously develop the technical skillsets of junior and peer developers
- Drive continuous delivery practices to deliver software solutions with speed and agility
- Participate in the analysis and implementation of third party solutions for OCLC applications with the ability to understand the impact and analyze the risk
Qualifications/Skills:
- Bachelor's degree in a Computer Science-related discipline required with 5 years of software development experience or comparable alternate experience is required
- The well qualified candidate needs to be well versed in:
- Interpersonal communication skills, including verbal, written, listening and customer relationship building
- React and JavaScript development experience
- React testing frameworks, including writing unit-tests, integration tests, and end-to-end tests.
- Writing/using Mocking frameworks
- They should have a solid understanding and experience in AWS Cloud computing and be comfortable
- They should have expertise with: JavaScript, React, HTML, CSS, Java, GitHub, AWS Cloud, REST-base APIs
- Other highly desirable skills include: Python, Next.js, Material UI (MUI), CI/CD in GitLab, Relational Database Service Aurora, New Relic
