Pay Range: $23.15 - $23.85/hr.

A Skilled Trades Technician - Concrete Finisher position is available with the Streets and Stormwater Service Area of the Transportation and Public Works Department. Candidates must have flexible working hours; capable of working four (4) ten-hour shifts. This position is a first responder in severe weather conditions/ emergencies which requires working overtime and/ or compensatory time.
The Skilled Trades Technician - Concrete Finisher job responsibilities include:
- Perform construction of small capital projects, including but not limited to the following: roadways, drainage channels, storm drains, curbs, headwalls and pipes.
- Finish concrete, set forms, tie rebar, set pipes, build curbs by hand, and perform strenuous manual labor tasks.
- Operating equipment and manual labor duties as they relate to maintenance operations.
Minimum Qualifications:
- High School Diploma or GED.
- Two (2) years responsible experience in the concrete construction industry.
- Valid driver's license.
- The candidates selected to hire must pass City of Fort Worth (DOT) Medical Exam, Pre-Employment Drug Screen, Physical.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Traffic Control (MUTCD) and safety procedures.
- Knowledge and use of various hand and power tools as it relates to Streets and Stormwater maintenance.
- Four (4) years of experience working with concrete hand tools; form setting and concrete finishing.
- Experience working in extreme weather conditions such as rain, hail, sleet, snow and heat.
Working Conditions
Depending on assignment, positions in this class typically require touching, talking, hearing, seeing, grasping, standing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, reaching, walking, repetitive motions, climbing, balancing, pushing, pulling and lifting; depending on assignment. Incumbents may be exposed to moving mechanical parts, odors, dusts, poor ventilation, chemicals, oils, extreme temperatures, inadequate lighting, intense noises, gases, vibrations, chemicals, oils and workspace restrictions.
Physical Demands
Heavy Work – Depending on assignment, positions in this class typically exerting up to 100 pounds of force occasionally, up to 50 pounds of force frequently, and/or up to 20 pounds of force constantly having to move objects.
