Based in Cork, the Global Software Product Research and Development Centre is responsible for the creation of innovative, high quality software tools for Pilz Automation Systems and services. Our highly skilled workforce specialize in: Research and Advanced Development Product Development Mobile Development Cloud Computing. The profile within the Software team includes: Software Architects, Software Developers, Software Testers, Requirements Engineers, Product Owners, Scrum Masters and Agile Coaches.
Pilz offers complete automation solutions based around its core skill of safety – in everything from the sensor technology to the control systems and actuators. The product range includes corresponding software tools, diagnostic and visualisation systems as well as engineering services.

We are on a journey to transform our software offering for our customers and are heavily investing in our cloud-based software strategy. We are looking for an experienced Architect to join our team to help us realise our vision and to deliver leading edge software solutions.
We need to ensure that our software tools run on desktop as well as the Cloud. As part of the Architecture team your challenge will be to ensure that our applications will operate seamlessly in either environment whilst meeting the needs of customers from a diverse range of Organisations.

Working with our team of Architects, your challenge will be to marry the different technologies used in our products into a single coherent strategy which will guide the development Organization into the future. You will work with a range of complex projects with team sizes ranging from small in-house development teams to large cross-functional, multi-site teams.

- Programming Languages: React & Redux, Spring Boot, Typescript, Javascript, Eclipse RCP, Java, C++.
- Configuration Management Technologies: Ansible and Puppet.
- Infrastructure as Code Technologies : Terraform and CloudFormation.
- CI/CD systems using Gitlab, Maven, Jenkins, GIT, SVN.
- Container Based technologies: Kubernetes, Docker.
Working with our team of Architects, your challenge will be to marry the different technologies used in our products into a single coherent strategy which will guide the development Organization into the future. You will work with a range of complex projects with team sizes ranging from small in-house development teams to large cross-functional, multi-site teams.
Key Responsibilities
- Accountable for the software architecture, design, implementation, and maintainability for robust, scalable, high-quality software products.
- Responsible for defining the technical roadmap for the organisation.
- Drive best practice of the development function striving for and achieving higher standards of Pilz Ireland group performance.
- Technical expert and primary contact point between Pilz Ireland and other technical organisations.
- Technical Consultant to multiple scrum teams.
- Mentor and Coach for senior developers.
- Continuous drive for growth and development of the technical competence of the Pilz Ireland group.
- Other specific responsibilities vary by prior experience and project scope.

Essential Criteria
Proven best practise in architecture and design across multiple projects / product domains,

5+ years experience.
