Forward Slope, Inc. has an exciting opportunity for a Software Tester. This is a full-time position located in San Diego, California. This is a hybrid role which allows some telework, however the Software Tester will be required to be onsite in San Diego most days.

Job Description:
FSI is seeking a skilled Software Tester to join our dynamic team and help us ensure that our software products are flawless. As a Software Tester, you will be responsible for thoroughly testing various software applications and identifying any defects or issues. You will work closely with our development team to ensure that all software is up to our high standards before release. You will also have the opportunity to provide feedback and recommendations for improving our software development process. Responsibilities Include:
  • Create and run test scenarios, scripts, and cases to thoroughly test software applications.
  • Review test results, summarize findings and suggestions for improvement in reports, develop test plans using templates as required, and keep test plan documentation current.
  • Work together with cross-functional teams, including product managers, developers, DICE lab test personnel and directors, the software test team, and customer service, to make sure that software satisfies business and customer needs.
  • Have considerable expertise in creating test plans for various pre-production settings.
  • Prepare test event requirements such as requests, applications, SRF, and provide assistance with Software Integration Testing (SIT) events.
  • Identify, isolate, and record any flaws or bugs that have been identified during testing. Then, collaborate with the development team to fix them.
  • Test software programs' performance, regression, performance testing, any required system configurations, and functional aspects.
  • Continually enhance testing procedures and methods to boost effectiveness and efficiency. Work with test directors to produce and submit final test reports.
  • Ensure that software products pass testing criteria and adhere to strict reliability, quality, and usability guidelines. Report any issues to product managers.
  • Stay up-to-date with emerging trends and technologies in software testing and incorporate them into testing processes as appropriate.
  • Take part in the system software product engineering change and release process, making sure that all testing requirements have been satisfied.
  • Actively support a culture of cooperation; support other teams with testing as needed; teamwork; team meetings; and ongoing development.
Required Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's Degree in computer science, computer engineering, systems engineering or any related field/major, or 5 additional years of experience in information technology in lieu of degree requirement
  • Candidates should have 1-3 years of experience in software testing, including developing and executing test cases, identifying defects, and working with development teams to resolve issues.
  • Have a solid understanding of testing methodologies, such as manual testing, automated testing, functional testing, regression testing, and performance testing.
  • Candidates should have excellent communication skills, be able to clearly articulate testing results and issues to development teams and stakeholders.
  • Have a willingness to learn new technologies and tools as they emerge in the industry.
Desired Qualifications:
  • Experience using Windows/Linux scripting, Git, Ant, Maven, Subversion, or similar
  • Experience using testing tools, benchmarks, and continuous integration tools (e.g., Jenkins, Hudson, and Sonar)
  • Experience with the Atlassian suite of tools
  • Knowledge and experience working with Windows/Red Hat Linux OS in a System Administrative role and in developing Windows scripts/bash scripts
  • Experience applying DoD Security Technical Implementation Guides (STIG) and Security Requirements Guides (SRGs), DoD Instruction 8551.01, and the ability to perform vulnerability assessments in accordance with DoD Ports, Protocols, and Services Management (PPSM) guidelines
  • Find ways to improve existing test procedures and make them more user-friendly.
  • Ability to follow test instructions and redline discrepancies with minimal supervision
Other Requirements:
  • Candidate must have an active security clearance at the SECRET level
  • A valid CompTIA Security+ or other IAT level II certification
  • Base Salary Range: $70,000 - $80,000
