Job Purpose

The Sr. Accountant, Financial Control provides oversight, coordination, and monitoring of the Company's balance sheet reconciliation (BSR) process, utilizing the Oracle Account Reconciliation Cloud Service (ARCS) application to ensure adherence with Company policy and accuracy of the Company's external GAAP and Statutory financial statements.

Essential Responsibilities

  • Acts as a primary contact for BSR related questions.
  • Communicates and collaborates with all levels of management and staff regarding the BSR process.
  • Ensures adherence to the Company’s internal BSR Policy in support of Sarbanes-Oxley regulatory requirements.
  • Independently identifies and investigates reconciliation issues.
  • Provides oversight and mentoring of less experienced staff, as needed.
  • Monitors ARCS reconciliations to ensure completion by established due dates.
  • Participates in the development and maintenance of policies and procedures.
  • Performs quality control reviews on ARCS reconciliations.
  • Performs ARCS system administration, which includes coordinating user access/role requests, updating general ledger (GL) accounts as needed, and validating data feeds between ARCS and GL for completeness.
  • Recommends process improvements to create efficiency and consistency.
  • Produces and distributes internal reports to senior management.
  • Supports the strategic goals of the department and Company.
  • Trains various departmental staff on the BSR Policy, procedures, and usage of ARCS.
  • Works with internal and external auditors on audit requests and deliverables.

  • Strong knowledge of financial accounting and reconciliation requirements.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field required.

  • Master's Degree preferred.

  • 5+ years of accounting, tax, or financial reporting/reconciliation experience required.

  • Experience with Oracle or similar ERP software application required.

  • Insurance or financial services industry experience preferred.

  • Certified Public Accountant (CPA) preferred.
