The Brothers of Charity Southern Services provides age related throughout the Cork and Kerry area. In 2013, Services in Kerry reconfigured under the national model of Progressing Disability Services for Children and Young People 0-18 years. This programme is led by the HSE in partnership with the non-statutory disability organisations.

Ten teams reconfigured in Cork in April 2021 as part of the reconfiguration of CHO4 under Progressing Disability Model of Service. The teams in Kerry and West Cork reconfigured a number of years ago. Brothers of Charity is be the lead agency for four teams across Cork and Kerry.

The North Kerry Network Disability Team is one of three Network Disabilities Teams in Kerry established to deliver the Kerry Intervention and Disability Service (KIDS) based in Listowel Co. Kerry.

JOB SUMMARY This post is in Network 1 and it involves, working as part of an Interdisciplinary team providing supports to children and young adults, 0-18yrs and their families. This will include children with Intellectual, Physical, Sensory Disability, Autism and children at risk of or query developmental delay; where their needs require the support of an Interdisciplinary team. This team is under the national model of service provision “Progressing Disability Services for Children and Young People” lead by the HSE. The successful candidate will be employed by the Brothers of Charity Services Ireland. The North Kerry Team is based in Listowel with an outreach service to Tralee to provide input to families from the Castleisland/Farranfore area. Assessment, diagnostic and therapeutic interventions are provided by North Kerry Interdisciplinary team. The CDNT aims to maximise the child/ young adult’s full potential and works within the context of the family and community, empowering and supporting parents/care givers and family members .
The Candidate

• Professional Qualifications, Experience etc.

Candidates must:

• Be registered, in the General Nurse Division or Intellectual Disability Nurse Division of the register of Nurses kept by the Nursing & Midwifery Board of Ireland (NMBI) and

• Possess the requisite knowledge and ability, (including a high standard of clinical and administrative capacity) for the proper discharge the functions of the role.

• Have one year’s experience of working with children and young adults 0 – 18 years with complex needs and their families

• Have experience of working as part of an Interdisciplinary team.

• Have experience of working in a community based setting

• Demonstrate a command of the English language so as to effectively carry out the duties and responsibilities of the role

• Have a full clean Driver’s licence which qualifies you to drive manual transmission vehicles on Irish roads.

• Annual registration
• On appointment, practitioners must maintain annual registration on relevant division of the Register of Nurses & Midwives maintained by Nursing & Midwifery Board of Ireland (NMBI) AND

• Practitioners must confirm annual registration with the NMBI to the Brothers of Charity Services Ireland – Southern Region by way of annual Patient Safety Assurance Certificate (PSAC)

• Age

The Public Service Superannuation (Age of Retirement) Act, 2018* set 70 years as the compulsory retirement age for public servants.

* Public Servants not affected by this legislation:
Public servants recruited between 1 April 2004 and 31 December 2012 (new entrants) have no compulsory retirement age.

Public servants recruited since 1 January 2013 are members of the Single Pension Scheme and have a compulsory retirement age of 70.

• Health

Candidates for and any person holding the office must be fully competent and capable of undertaking the duties attached to the office and be in a state of health such as would indicate a reasonable prospect of ability to render regular and efficient service.

• Character

Candidates for and any person holding the office must be of good character.

Salary Scale: €31,109 - €47,931 including 1 LSI’s per annum (Pro-rata to a full-time post) (1/10/21 – LRA)
