Job description
Responsible for managing fabrication, installation, maintenance, and/or repair of road signs, signals, and markings to County roads and bridges. Responsibilities may include: planning and supervising staff operations; overseeing sign shop activities such as fabricating new and replacement signs; reviewing maintenance and repair to existing signs and road markings to ensure compliance with regulations and standards; overseeing materials, labor, and equipment required to perform fabrication, maintenance, repair, replacement and/or installation of County signs, signals and road markings.
Supervises Traffic Department including: prioritizing and assigning work; conducting performance evaluations; ensuring staff are trained; ensuring employees follow policies and procedures; maintaining a healthy and safe working environment; and making hiring, termination, and disciplinary recommendations. Manages day-to-day operations for sign shop which includes planning, coordinating and prioritizing maintainence activities; inspecting and monitoring compliance with codes and regulations, and; performing related tasks. Responds to requests, inquiries, and complaints; investigates problems and initiates corrective action. Performs other duties of a similar nature or level
High School Diploma or G.E.D.; 8 years sign shop experience; Associates Degree a plus
Knowledge Requirements:Traffic engineering principles, practices, and standards • Maintenance of traffic procedures for detour and work zone signing, and traffic control materials specifications • Computers and applicable software applications • Applicable tools and equipment • Data entry procedures and processes • Applicable Federal, State, and local laws, codes, and regulations • Supervisory procedures and processes

Seasonal Employees:
Sick Leave - accrued at 4.6 hours for every eighty 80 hours in active pay status.
Vacation - Seasonal employees scheduled to work 40 hours during their period of employment and have completed twenty-six (26) bi-weekly pay periods in active pay status will accrue vacation in the same manner as regular full-time employees. Part-time Seasonal employees (less than 40 hours) do not accrue vacation.
Intermittent Employees:
Sick Leave – accrual based on hours worked.
Temporary Employees –
Sick Leave- accrual based on hours worked.
Holidays – Employees other than full-time, are eligible only for the portion of the holiday they are scheduled to work.
