Essential Functions
Perform a variety of tasks involving the receipt, preparation, distribution, and delivery of incoming, and outgoing inter campus mail, packages, and freight.
Work Schedule
Additional Duties
Primary Responsibility:1. Initially separate incoming mail by class of service and type of material.
2. Sort, bundle, deliver, and collect mail/packages by individual mail stops, office and lab delivery points on established routes.
3. Record specific information via electronic tracking system for all special services mail, parcels, packages and freight. Acquire signature release.
4. Prepare, deliver, and collect apartment mail – two general buildings of distribution. (Individually keyed postal boxes by apartment number.)
5. Operation of x-ray inspection unit.
6. Receive & process incoming air and ground freight.
7. Receive packages, add packages to tracking system database, load trucks and deliver packages. Pick up returns only with authorization from supervisor. Maintain appropriate paperwork as required.
8. Is responsible for the routine daily maintenance of vehicle. i.e., fluid levels, cleanliness. Keep accurate and appropriate records of miles, gas, etc.
9. Prepare outbound shipments for UPS, FedEx, etc.
10. Assist with delivery of large equipment.
11. Assist with moves on and off campus at UNMC and UNO
12. Assist with the pick-up of campus surplus at UNMC and UNO
13. Provide customer service to walk in customers and customers with phone inquiries.
14. Be able to lift 50LBS without assistance.
15. Perform other duties as assigned.
Mail and Warehouse Service Support:
1. Initially separate incoming mail by class of service and type of material, i.e., letters/flats, Priority/First, Inter-campus, Presort Standard, Etc. Further sorts by campus zip, employee name, building and department in order of importance based on delivery schedules.
2. Receive packages from FedEx, FedEx Ground, UPS, etc., scan in packages to tracking database and label and sort on to building carts to ready for delivery.
3. Bundle material by individual mail stop and load delivery carts in route sequence. Complete scheduled mail route, delivering and collecting mail throughout several buildings. Delivery and pick up points are variable by building ranging from central drop points to floor-by-floor delivery/collection points.
4. Count and distribute campus wide informational material and flyers to work locations on a daily, weekly or monthly basis to various categories of employees, faculty, staff, and students.
5. Record specific information via electronic tracking system regarding incoming special services mail such as Registered, Insured, Certified, UPS, FedEx, Parcel Post, Etc. Prepare by route for delivery to designated department (Acquired signature release.)
6. Prepare, deliver, and collect apartment mail to include assisting new set up. Delete when necessary, maintain forwarding file covering two general buildings of distribution.
7. Assist in opening letters and flats addressed to UNMC/NM and UNO lacking adequate processing information.

1. Load and unload mail, packages, medical specimens, dangerous goods, infectious substances, blood, chemicals, and surplus items.
2. Load and offload service carts for each scheduled mail/package run – deliver and collect mail or outgoing packages on established route – and is responsible for the routine daily maintenance of vehicle (truck, van), i.e. fluid levels, cleanliness, maintaining accurate and appropriate records of miles, gas, etc.
3. Pick up all incoming USPS mail and Special Services mail from US Post Office on Pacific St for UNO and Elmwood Ave for UNMC. Load/Unload hampers, letter trays, sacks, etc. and deliver to UNMC/UNO Campus Mail Service.
