Job description
Job Summary:
Under the supervision of a Registered Nurse and/ or Physician performs a variety of specialized technical duties in the surgical environment.
Education:
Successful graduation from a surgical assisting program recognized by the National Board of Surgical Technology.
OR
Hold current CST certification AND successful completion of 350 cases AND successful completion of 2 years experience as a Surgical First Assistant during the last 4 years.
Certifications & Licensures:
Basic Life Support (BLS) required within 6 months of employment
- The National Board of Surgical Technology and Surgical Assisting or its successor;
- The National Center for Competency Testing or its successor; or
- Another surgical technologist certification program approved by the department.
Maintain certification as a Surgical Technologist/ First Assistant from National Board of Surgical Technology and Surgical Assisting (NBSTSA) or Association of Surgical Technologist (AST).
