As an Electrical Systems Engineer at B3, you will design and develop electrical systems related to a new generation of wearable environmental sensors to protect our military and law enforcement. In close coordination with software and firmware development teams, your responsibilities include electrical system architecture, system requirements definition, detailed circuit design (digital, power, I/O, etc.), schematic capture and PCB layout. You will be integral into the full product development process, carrying ideas from early concept and feasibility stages through formal market introduction and volume manufacturing. This is a critical product development role requiring a proactive engineer with a strong sense of ownership and willingness to dive deep to understand and resolve complex technical issues in the exciting and rapidly growing field of wearable sensing.

Responsibilities include but not limited to:

• Technical design and development of state-of-the-art sensor systems for military and law enforcement markets. Scope includes power circuitry, digital and analog subsystems.
• Hardware PCB design including requirement analysis, high level design, schematic capture, and layout analysis.
• Participate in design evaluations and provide subject matter expertise and consultation to qualification testing of sensor systems.
• Collaborate with entire B3 engineering team to get input from specialists
• Perform trade-off analyses and coordinate selection of system components to meet design requirements and achieve performance and design-to-cost goals for new products.
• Develop top level system models and perform required functional, steady state and transient analysis and design verification using engineering tools (e.g. MATLAB).
• Identify and mitigate major design risks early
• Troubleshoot existing designs and generate creative design improvements for efficiency and performance, along with testing and manufacturing throughput.
• Provide subject matter expertise and consultation in the development of electrical system/design verification test plans.
• Participate in brainstorming sessions and R&D related discussions related to new products and technologies.
• Thoroughly document and explain Electrical Engineering test plans, results, and analyses to peer reviewers, internal and external customers.
• Work within B3’s ISO 9001:2018-compliant New Product Development process, and contribute to the effectiveness of the Quality Management System

Required Skills & Qualifications

• BS in Electrical Engineering, Systems Engineering or a related Field, with a minimum of 7 years of experience in the design and manufacturing discipline
• Ability to design and model sensor systems to establish concept feasibility
• Experience with system design trades that establish feasibility within highly optimized size, weight, power budgets
• Research competing technical approaches and leverage COTS integration where possible - avoid the urge to reinvent the wheel
• Creative problem solving and ability to collaborate with cross-functional, distributed teams.
• Verification as a U.S Citizen or permanent resident

Additional Beneficial Qualifications & Experience

• 4+ years of experience with schematic capture tool usage (OrCAD preferable)
• Direct experience in vetting new product concepts and decision to pursue opportunities
• Design for Manufacturing / tolerance analysis
• Experience defining Electrical, Mechanical, and Software interface requirements
• Experience with EMI design and compliance to MIL-STD-461
• Advanced engineering degree in Electrical, Systems, or a related field
• Experience working in both Agile and Waterfall management systems to deliver results
