Technical Assurance & Capability Director

About the role

Technical assurance adds significant value to the BMT business by ensuring that the technical deliverables, such as products or services, meet the required standards of quality, reliability, and safety through:

· Ensuring customer satisfaction.

· Reducing risk.

· Improving quality.

· Driving innovation.

· Supporting regulatory compliance.

The role provides strategic and centralised leadership to the whole of BMT for assurance and capability, giving clear, regular and consistent messaging and communication on the standard of work required from the technical and consulting community and actively promoting global collaboration, quality of work and integration of this community.

The role is the key point of focus and reporting for all technical issues both internal and external in order to produce output that is ‘best in class’ led by a global, cohesive and agile ‘virtual’ technical and consulting leadership team.

· Align with Business Objectives: Ensure that the assurance and capability element of the role is aligned with the company's overall business objectives. This will require a clear understanding of the company's strategy, goals and objectives.

· Monitor and Evaluate Technical Assurance Performance : Continuously monitor and evaluate the performance of the Technical Assurance and Capability function to ensure that it is delivering on its strategic objectives.

· Establish Key Performance Indicators (KPIs): Establish KPIs to measure the impact of the assurance and capability function on the business. This could include metrics such as the percentage of projects completed without errors or the percentage of staff with relevant qualifications.

· Develop a Strategic Plan: Develop a strategic plan that outlines how the assurance and capability function will contribute to the company's goals and objectives. This could involve identifying new opportunities, improving processes, or developing new products or services.

· Foster and Drive Collaboration: Foster collaboration among the technical and consulting community by creating a global, cohesive, and agile "virtual" technical and consulting leadership team. This will require a focus on communication, teamwork, and sharing of best practices.

· Focus on Customer-Facing Delivery: Ensure that the assurance and capability function is customer-facing and provides high-quality delivery to customers. This will require a focus on customer satisfaction, quality of work, and meeting or exceeding customer expectations.

In terms of location, this role can be remote, hybrid or onsite, this includes Internationally where BMT have offices. We have offices in Bath, Teddington, London, Fareham, and Weymouth. Local and international travel will be required.

About you

You have a thorough knowledge of customers technical requirements across BMT’s offerings and of the internal capability and capacity of our technical and consulting employees across BMT

You have the ability to develop the community into a global, cohesive team whilst anticipating future trends and ensures the implementation of practices, processes and procedures to meet these trends

You are able to build a professional, agile and cohesive, global, technical function for BMT

You should have considerable experience within a relevant technical field and be recognised within industry as a “key player” within the technical fields BMT is involved in

You will have experience of setting and implementing a “best practice”, technical and consulting strategy, preferably across regions, countries or organisations.

You should have excellent communication and presentation skills to allow delivery of complex messages which must be easily digestible, unambiguous, engaging, and informative to a range of audiences inside and outside of BMT and a personal drive, inquisitiveness and an appetite to further grow a successful business.
