Annual salary range for this position is: $89,336.00 - $134,014.40.

Responsibilities:
MSTS is seeking a highly motivated and mission-oriented Master Technologist for Site Services’ Power Operations department. The department is responsible for maintaining reliable power for the NNSS and NLV facilities.
Key Responsibilities
- Maintain Power Operations Revenue Metering, billing, and data collection databases for multiple department and research utilization.
- Perform upgrades and modifications to communication systems involving substations and associated Power Operation’s facilities per the direction of Design Engineering and/or System Engineer.
- Manage Power Operation warehouse inventory and electrical testing equipment.
- Manage communication of emergency equipment in substations and will work closely with power engineers and staff to identify and resolve substation issues.
- Plan and conduct work requiring judgment in the evaluation, selection, application, adaptation, and modification of standard techniques, guidelines, procedures, and criteria.
- Devises new approaches to maintenance, operations, and testing problems.
- May provide maintenance, operations, or testing direction to subordinate engineers, technicians, crafts, or others as assigned for specific projects or tasks.
- May lead teams of multiple disciplines and various skill levels.
- Perform work that involves conventional practices and may include a variety of complex features such as conflicting requirements, unsuitability of conventional methods, or difficult coordination requirements.
- Provide project support for new and existing power system projects while coordinating with engineering, construction, specialty staff groups, clients, procurement, and vendors.
- May direct overall activities on specific assignments. May support maintenance activities, coordinates modifications and major repairs, and provides input to maintenance procedures. Also responsible for compliance with Power, Maintenance and Operation procedures and all standards required by Federal, State, and Biological/Ecological entities.
- Contribute and support projects that involve the power utility group which include schedule updates, material ordering and tracking as well as updating and verifying current configuration drawing.
- Identify innovative processes for improving repair process flow, data collection, and analysis.
- Coordination of work activities as assigned with other departments.
- Plan, guide, or prepare administrative and technical documents as required for maintenance, operations, and testing.
- Perform other duties as assigned by Supervisor/Manager.
- Associate degree plus at least 12 years’ progressive related experience or High School diploma plus 14 years’ progressive related experience.
- Experience with power maintenance, utility, and related equipment is highly desired.
- Experience working directly with interdisciplinary teams of engineers is desirable.
- Ability to work independently or in a team environment on a wide variety of tasks.
- Must be able to lift 50lbs.
- The primary work location will be at the Nevada National Security Site (located 65 miles northwest of Las Vegas, Nevada).
- Work schedule for this position will be 4/10’s, Monday – Thursday (subject to change).
- Pre-placement physical examination, which includes a drug screen, is required. MSTS maintains a substance abuse policy that includes random drug testing.
- Must possess a valid driver's license.
MSTS is required by DOE directive to conduct a pre-employment drug test and background review that includes checks of personal references, credit, law enforcement records, and employment/education verifications. Applicants offered employment with MSTS are also subject to a federal background investigation to meet the requirements for access to classified information or matter if the duties of the position require a DOE security clearance. Substance abuse or illegal drug use, falsification of information, criminal activity, serious misconduct or other indicators of untrustworthiness can cause a clearance to be denied or terminated by DOE, resulting in the inability to perform the duties assigned and subsequent termination of employment. In addition, Applicants for employment must be able to obtain and maintain a DOE Q-level security clearance, which requires U.S. citizenship, at least 18 years of age.
