The 13-acre property is the former estate of our founder, Virginia Secor Stranahan, and includes historic buildings, a river walk, community gardens, geodesic biodome and greenhouse, children’s natural playscape, beehive and educational room, butterfly hut, bird blind, outdoor stage, book center, pottery studio, and classrooms, among other features. We offer a variety of affordable, educational classes for all ages and skill levels including pottery, studio arts, fiber arts, culinary arts, health and wellness, children and family, skill-building, nature and conservation, gardening and horticulture.
Member Duties : VISTA Members will be working as part of a team to research volunteer recruitment strategies and best practices, develop volunteer training materials and a volunteer schedule, survey and communicate with community gardeners, research hunger statistics for Northwest Ohio, design poverty awareness materials and talking points, identify potential anti-hunger/anti-poverty organizational partners and co-teach a gardening/horticulture class!
