THEATER TECHNICIAN
JOB DESCRIPTION
BASIC FUNCTION:
Under the direction of the Assistant Principal, perform a variety of technical duties in the set-up, operation and coordination of electronic devices, audio-visual equipment, stage components and lighting for assemblies, theater productions and other special events; schedule, arrange and coordinate related support activities to assure smooth and efficient event activities; perform related maintenance and custodial activities.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES:
Perform a variety of technical duties in the set-up, operation and coordination of electronic devices, audio-visual equipment, stage components and lighting for assemblies, theater productions and other special events; coordinate response to special event production and operational needs.
Schedule and arrange related support activities to assure smooth and efficient event activities; coordinate facility usage calendar with District personnel and outside agencies; assist in the development of related production, student assistant, maintenance and custodial calendars.
Coordinate technical production services to meet school theater production, assembly and special event needs; serve as the master electrician, light board operator and sound and recording engineer for special events; set up and operate audio-visual and other theatrical and production equipment.
Oversee stage and shop activities in support of theater productions and special events; coordinate related cue calling, safety and show implementation functions; design lighting, sound, and audio-visual features; assure smooth and efficient development and implementation of special events.
Provide maintenance services in support of theater productions, special events and school activities; inspect, troubleshoot, diagnose and repair audio-visual, lighting, stage, Performing Arts Center audio system and various equipment malfunctions; perform periodic inspections and preventive maintenance.
Perform various clerical accounting duties in support of special events and assigned activities; monitor production expenditures to assure compliance with established limitations; research and coordinate the purchase of production supplies, equipment and rentals.
Provide various custodial services to assure theater production and special event areas are maintained in a clean, orderly and secure condition; clean foyer, control booth, stage, shop, dressing rooms, and counters.
Operate a variety of specialized equipment and devices including a variety of hand and power tools, special effects devices, computer and assigned software; arrange for outside equipment maintenance and repairs as needed.
Communicate with District personnel and various outside agencies to exchange information, coordinate activities and resolve issues or concerns.
Prepare and maintain a variety of records and reports related to theater productions, special events, calendars, equipment, financial activity and assigned duties.
Train and provide work direction and guidance to student assistants as required.
Attend and participate in various meetings.

ABILITY TO:

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
Any combination equivalent to: graduation from high school supplemented by college-level course work in theater production or related field and two years experience in the production of theater, special events or related activities including work in the operation and maintenance of electronics, audio-visual equipment, and theatrical systems.

Pay: $3,699.00 - $4,729.00 per month
