Overall Purpose of the Supply Chain Management Department

It is the role of the Procurement department to give the best possible professional service to our internal customers, so that they can provide the exceptional nursing care in line with this mission statement.

It is the responsibility of the Procurement Department to design and implement the strategic & administrative Procurement policies and procedures. The Procurement Department will add value by delivering exceptional service, as well as advice in procurement and inventory control that ultimately result in overall cost savings. A clear understanding of the supply needs of each department, the business needs of Beacon Hospital and up to date knowledge of Procurement principles must be maintained. At the day to day level the Procurement Department will manage the purchasing of all stocks, equipment and services within the theatre department.

Overall Purpose of the Job

The Theatre Inventory Controller will play an essential role in assisting the Procurement function to ensure that the theatre department can achieve its overall purpose as described.

Key Responsibilities and Deliverables

• Effectively manages stock replenishment in the par locations on a daily basis using handheld scanner.
• Picks stocks in bulk stores as required for departments using scanned picklists on a routine scheduled basis and highlights any stock shortages and issues to the relevant personnel.
• Delivers scanned stock to departments within the Hospital.
• Work in conjunction with clinical staff to achieve optimal stock levels throughout the theatre department and assist with replenishment of same.
• Manage and control Consignment Stock within the theatre department.
• Ensure effective stock rotation.
• Ensure effective product recall and removal of outdated or unwanted inventory.
• Optimal location of stocks and the management of space within the Theatre store rooms and clinical locations.
• Develop key processes and procedures that ensure continuous improvement.
• Ensure the supply of materials as required by maintaining the relevant data in Sage X3.
• Maintain the accuracy of Procurement system information as it relates to inventory control.
• Participates in physical inventory counts and cycle counts for Warehouse and other departments as required
• Actively participates in general housekeeping duties of Warehouse and managed departments.
• Performs any and all other duties as assigned by the Supply Chain Manager.
• Participates in any other Projects as required.
• Manage the Pharmacy Fluids as required.
• Adhere to all Beacon Hospital Health and Safety process and procedures.
• Adhere to all Beacon Hospital JCI requirements.
• Provide cover for the other roles within the Procurement and Material Management Department if required.
• Maintain a clean and safe working environment.
• Manage the Pharmacy Fluids as required.
• Coordinates with Theatre management and attends all required meetings.
• Coordinates with Vendors for the requirement of specialist stock and any daily stock issues that may arise.

Person Specification

Qualifications

• 3rd Level qualification desirable
• Computer literate
• At least intermediate knowledge of Microsoft Office with advanced level of Excel

Experience

• Systems knowledge, primarily Sage X3
• Proven experience in Procurement and the implementation of up to date Procurement processes ideally within a medical device environment
• Demonstrated ability to lead in absence of co-ordinator
