POSITION TITLE:
Tooling Engineer
POSITION SUMMARY:
The Tooling Engineer creates job routers and process instructions from customer purchase orders and prints in order to ensure that products are manufactured on schedule and within quality standards and cost objectives.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
- Develops the manufacturing plan, establishes procedures, and develops master routers for maintaining high standards of manufacturing operations to ensure that products conform to established customer and company quality standards.
- Validates, updates as necessary and finalizes bill of materials on job routers.
- Collaborates with supervisors and machine operators to ensure manufacturing plan utilizes optimal material / stock, appropriate routings and operations and informative process notes.
- Evaluates manufacturing processes by applying knowledge of product design, fabrication, assembly, tooling, and materials; conferring with equipment vendors; soliciting observations from operators.
- Updates all documentation when processes change and ensures appropriate departments are notified.
- Identifies, recommends, and implements changes to improve productivity and reduce cost and scrap, monitor scrap and rework data. Directs the establishment, implementation, and maintenance of production standards.
- Maintains product and process data base by computer programs, entering data.
- Performs miscellaneous duties and projects as assigned and required.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Required:
- Strong knowledge of Stillwater’s manufacturing materials and processes, specifically milling, turning, and welding.
- Ability to efficiently utilize ERP system and digital storage systems
- Blueprint reading and GD&T understanding
- Strong communication and organizational skills
- Strong attention to detail
- Preferred:
- 3-5 year similar experience

Work is performed in a professional office environment. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets, and fax machines. Duties may require sitting for long periods of time. Occasional need to drive a vehicle to other work locations.
