Waste Connections in Vancouver, WA is looking to hire a full-time year round Transfer Station Sort Line Lead to join out team in Vancouver, Washington.

Starting rate of pay is $25.00/HR

The hours will be Monday-Friday 1:30pm-10:00pm with Overtime often.

Wage range is $25-27.00/HR

The primary function would be to run and maintain the Sorting machine to produce optimum efficiency while also making adjustments on the fly as needed to ensure quality standards are met and maintained.

May Help supervise part-time, temporary, or seasonal employees.

Operates MRF sorting equipment on sort line; conveyors, trommel, magnetic separators, eddy current separators, disc screens, air classifiers, etc. for the purposes of developing products for return to the WTE Facility and/or developing end products for secondary markets or re-use. Provides manual sorting and spot checking of all waste that enters the MRF. Monitors the filling and removal of product containers to storage areas or end processing (baling) areas and provides information to MRF Operators. Informs MRF Operators in regard to equipment operations by monitoring equipment, including listening, watching, observing vibrations, etc.

Knowledge of equipment operations. -Knowledge of industrial hazards and safety precautions related to working in the general proximity of stationary and mobile equipment. -Demonstrated skill in operating equipment and tools. -Ability to understand written and oral instructions; ability to communicate effectively; ability to observe proper safety precautions; ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with other employees, supervisors, and the general public; ability to perform heavy manual tasks; and the ability to work independently

The employee is frequently required to stand, walk, and talk or hear; use hands, feel, operate equipment, tools, or controls; and reach with hands and arms. Employee is frequently required to stoop, crouch, crawl, kneel, balance and climb stairs and/or ladders. Employees is frequently required to work in cramped spaces and/or confined spaces as well as high areas and locations.

WORKING CONDITIONS AND PHYSICAL EFFORT:

• Extensive physical activity. Requires strenuous physical work; heavy lifting, pushing, or pulling required of objects over 50 pounds.
• Work environment involves some exposure to hazards or physical risks, which require following basic safety precautions.
• Ability to operate heavy equipment is required.
• Knowledge of basic computer skills.
• Knowledge of light and heavy equipment operation and maintenance.
• Ability to read, understand, follow, and enforce safety procedures.

Responsibilities Include:

• Sorting recycled material onto different sorting belts and areas

• Maintaining the cleanliness of the recycling area

• Assuming custodial duties as needed, such as Sweeping, and site pick up.

• Other manual labor that does not involve the operation of heavy equipment

Requirements:

• Must be able to will work in a fast-paced environment

• Knowledge of Conveyor Systems, or Millwright experience

• Must be able to stand continually through entire 8 hour shift

• Forklift Experience Preferred., but not required.

• High School Diploma or Equivalent
