About the Up2Us Coach Program

Founded in 2010, Up2Us Sports is a national nonprofit organization dedicated to inspiring youth to achieve their potential by providing them with coaches trained in positive youth development. We do this by identifying, training and supporting coaches in their communities who bring sports-based youth development to the most underserved communities. The Up2Us Coach and Up2Us Training programs empower youth-based organizations across the country to become a united force for meaningful change. Up2Us Coach is the first national service program to identify and train young adults to coach and mentor kids in low income communities. Coaches are trained in youth development and mentoring strategies to promote physical activity, healthy living, and good decision making, while cultivating caring, trust-based relationships with the youth they serve.

About Touching Miami with Love

Touching Miami with Love (TML) was founded in 1995, and for over twenty-five years, our mission has been to provide hope, opportunities, and resources to children, youth, and adults. TML is a community-based non-profit serving nearly 1000children and adults in the Miami communities of West Homestead, Florida City, and Overtown in ways that inspire, educate, and empower. Our all-encompassing educational enrichment programs provide needed support for K-12th Graders through after-school programs, summer camps, and in-school services. We aid adults through adult literacy, life skills classes, coordinating school services , mental health referrals, social services support and meeting food insecurity needs.

Up2Us Coaches serving through AmeriCorps must complete their assigned term of service listed above not to exceed a 12-month period. During the term of service, the coach will serve in a direct service

The responsibilities of the coach are as follows:

· Provide the instruction for assigned group through a variety of activities including, but not limited to, homework help, computer, fitness, social skills, literacy, and artistic expression.

· Lead youth in sport activities like basketball, flag football, group games, etc.

· Lead intentional sports and service-learning programming.

· Encourage teamwork, leadership and positive life skills.

· Attend required training

· Submit monthly data reports.

· Engage with the children to build significant, positive relationships.

· Assist with supervision during special events and field trips.

· Assist in building and program preparation as needed.

· Support and encourage volunteers as they serve in the program.

· Responsible for ensuring safety and following all protocols for transportation.

· Other duties as assigned by the Program Coordinator.

Compensation & Schedule

Living Allowance: Up to $7,700 (Part-time). No more than of 900 hours. Upon completion of contracted hours and education award will be provided.

Weekly Schedule up to 21 hours per week.

Member Eligibility & Qualifications

AmeriCorps is open to U.S. citizens, nationals, or lawful permanent residents.
Members must be 18 years old, or 17 with written parental/guardian consent.
Members must have, or be working toward a High School diploma, GED, or its equivalent.

Pay: $7,770.00 - $17,000.00 per year
