Job description
  • Serve as coordinator of the restoring promise unit at Turbeville Correctional Institution for young adults 18-25 years of age.
  • Coordinates, plans, facilitates all educational, recreational, personal enrichment and therapeutic actives and supportive individualized counseling services to include orientation, assess, individual, group & family engagement works with young adult family members and supporters to build community support.
  • Provides treatment rec and referrals for young adults to ensure prescribed treatment including medical and behavioral are provided.
  • Ensures all doc of INIT orient & assess, crisis interventions, and other support services w/n automated record system and young adult record in accordance with young adult services policy and standards.
  • Assists with accountability review boards and all assigned institutional boards as needed.
  • Provides direct supervision and guidance to young adult services program counselor.
  • Ensures restoring promise model of services is delivered as directed by the Vera institute of justice, the YOIS program manager and YAS Division Director.
Must successfully complete eight (8) week SCDC Basic Training upon hire

State of South Carolina Minimum Requirements:
A high school diploma and relevant program experience.

SCDC Minimum Requirements:
(Or an acceptable equivalency as approved by the Division of State Human Resources).

  • A bachelor's degree and two (2) years of experience working in a social services/mental health and/or a correctional setting;
OR
  • An associate's degree and four (4) years of experience working with youth in social services/mental health and/or correctional setting;
OR
  • A high school diploma and six (6) years of experience working with youth in social services/mental health and/or correctional setting.
