Oregon Trail Veterinary Clinic is seeking a full-time or part-time Veterinary Assistant or Certified Veterinary Technician to join our dedicated and caring team. We are a well-established, progressive, fast paced 4 doctor mixed animal practice located in Hermiston, OR. We treat everything from dogs and cats to horses and cows! We offer many services to provide the best comprehensive care to our patients including wellness and preventative care, acupuncture, surgery, dentistry, large animal care, senior pet care and dermatology. What are we looking for?

An ideal candidate would be looking for full-time employment, but we are open to part-time as well. A CVT/LVT license is preferred but are open to students and Veterinary Assistants. You would be friendly, upbeat, excel at working in a fast-paced environment and be able to multitask. Current shifts are Mon-Fri with a Saturday rotation (you would have an extra weekday off if you work Saturday) and signing up for on-call shifts will be required (at least 1 on-call shift/month but many like to sign up for more!). Ideally you would live within 20 minutes of the clinic.

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

• Professional client communication and education.
• Laboratory procedures including but not limited to: hematology, cytology, urinalysis, and blood chemistry.
• Diagnostic imaging and implementing safety protocols of fellow staff members.
• Surgical assisting; preparing and maintaining the surgical environment.
• Anesthesia induction, monitoring, and maintenance.
• Nursing skills including: restraining patients, administering medications PO/IV/SUBQ/IM, applying and maintaining bandages, providing high quality physical and psychological needs of the patient during any hospitalization stay or visit.
• Performing dental prophylaxis.
• Pharmacy and pharmacology knowledge including: preparing and dispensing medications, calculating dosages, recognizing adverse reactions, knowledge of regulations regarding the safe handling of biohazardous materials.
• Other duties as assigned with training provided.
