BACKGROUND

Founded in 2005, Bedrock Manufacturing Company is a Texas-based investment firm whose brands include Shinola and Filson. Shinola, based in Detroit, is a design brand started in 2011. It assembles watches in the United States and sells a variety of lifestyle goods designed to be lived in, worn out and well loved. The first Shinola Hotel opened in 2019.

Seattle-based Filson is known for a 125-year history of making high-end outdoor clothing and accessories. Shinola and Filson products are sold on Shinola.com and Filson.com; through company-owned retail stores; and via U.S. and international distributors.

SUMMARY

The VP of Human Resources will further develop and align Bedrock Manufacturing Human Resources (HR) strategies and core business objectives with the overall organizational mission and values. This individual will be an executive business partner, serving as the strategic and tactical lead on all HR initiatives. The ideal candidate will be responsible for developing a shared HR service model across all brands, creating talent retention and succession plans, and enhancing the current onboarding and performance management process. The VP of Human Resources will be a dynamic and innovative executive with the experience and comportment to oversee human capital across a multi-faceted population.

This position will lead the organization’s HR function, including HR systems and administration; talent management; employee engagement, relations, and culture; employment law and compliance; HR processes, policies, and procedures; and diversity, equity, and inclusion.

RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Serve as a thought-leader and strategic partner to executive leadership on all people and culture related opportunities and initiatives; help drive initiatives to sustain high performance and achieve business objectives
  • Collaborate with leadership to create a shared HR service model
  • Define and effectively communicate the organization’s short and long-term mission and goals; identify ways to support mission through talent management
  • Lead onboarding and performance management initiatives that serve to enhance the employee experience; develop employee-oriented culture that emphasizes quality, engagement, continuous improvement and high-performance
  • Identify key performance indicators for the organization’s human resource and talent management functions; assesses the organization’s success and market competitiveness
  • Enhance, implement, and deploy human resource systems, policies and practices that will improve overall operation and effectiveness of the organization
  • Establish credibility, trust, and rapport throughout the organization; demonstrate effective listening and problem-solving skills
  • Develop talent management strategies to build a diverse workforce aligned with DEI initiatives; implement plans to attract, retain and motivate talent
  • Research, develop, and implement competitive compensation, benefits, and employee incentive programs
  • Ensure compliance with employment laws and regulations, insurance, safety regulations and requirements
  • Budget design and management
QUALIFICATIONS
  • Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or related field required, Master’s or law degree highly preferred
  • At least 12 years of human resource management experience required; consumer, brand, retail/manufacturing/design experience highly preferred
  • Experience examining and re-engineering operations and procedures, formulating policy and developing and implementing new strategies and procedures
  • Responsive and detail oriented; excellent interpersonal skills both verbal and written
  • Ability to negotiate and manage collective bargaining agreements and alternate dispute resolution processes
  • Thorough knowledge of employment-related laws and regulations; including federal, state, and local employment, wage and salary laws and regulations
  • Knowledge of, and experience with, varied human resource information systems
  • Ability to analyze and assess training and development needs
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite or related software
  • Greenhouse, ADP, LinkedIn, Cornerstone, Excel, TEAMs
