Rye is a seed-stage startup with an amazing founding team that includes Justin Kan, co-founder of Twitch, and founders from Reddit and Goldman Sachs. We build APIs for eCommerce, focusing on developing API and systems and building infrastructure to integrate with external platforms like Shopify, WooCommerce, and BigCommerce. Our systems are built around eCommerce, tracking orders, order placement, returns, and inventory and search.

We're looking for our first full-time generalist visual designer at Rye. You will be an integral part of helping our developer partners visualize what their flows will look like when using Rye. You'll also help solidfy our forward-facing design style when it comes to content and marketing materials. If you're excited about the future of eCommerce, apply now. We're just getting started.

Responsibilities

• Create usable and intuitive product experiences.

• Gather and prioritize goals and requirements from disparate business, product, and engineering stakeholders.

• Be responsible to lead usability testing, user research, and other qualitative methods.

• Build fast, fail fast. Adhere to sprint schedules, and deliver assets on time to unblock development and get customer-facing features shipped.

• Utilize and contribute to an evolving design system.

Skills and experience requirements

• 5+ years of experience

• Generalist designer with a solid grasp on UI and UX

• Proficiency in low-code/no-code web development tools like Framer/Webflow

• Familiarity with Figma

• Excited about A/B testing strategies & implementation

• Curious about data-driven product design, usability testing, user research, and other qualitative methods.

• Great interpersonal and communication skills and comfort working within a small team

Things you'll work on

• Designing UI Components/Prototypes for all Rye products such as our developer consoles.

• Designing webpages and webpage elements on Figma.

• Designing Assets for various marketing campaigns including blog posts, hackathons, paid ads, and YouTube videos.

Bonus Points

• You have animation skills, specifically for creating marketing videos

• Experience working at a startup

• Based in New York (we are remote first, but have a New York presence)
