The Quality and Patient Safety (QPS) Department currently comprises of a team of five staff, to include Quality and Patient Safety Manager, QPS Co-ordinator, two QPS facilitators and a staff officer.

QPS at MUH strives to support, the delivery of safe effective, person centred care at all times that improves the health and wellbeing of patients and service users. We work under the values of HSE, care, compassion, trust and learning and aim to promote patient and family engagement throughout the patient journey.

The QPS team will be supported by a patient advocacy and liaison service (PALS), patient advisors and the Patient Engagement and Improvement Co-ordinator. It is envisaged that the patient partnership post will complement the work of PALS role with the implementation of the National Care Experience Programme, the promotion of the Independent Patient Advocacy Service and patient engagement related work.

The role is completely focused on a patient first approach so the candidate needs to have the patient at the centre of decision making and service developments.

The successful candidate will join a dynamic, caring and expanding team of multidisciplinary individuals with a shared passion for best practice, high quality care for each and every person that is a patient or relative at MUH.

This is a new role that will enable to post holder to develop and shape the position Working with the team and stakeholders across the hospital. Being part of the QPS team at MUH will bring a sense of pride in being able to ensure the patient voice is heard in all decision making and learning and developments.
