You will interact with a multi-disciplinary team of professionals throughout the U.S. and will provide leadership and client development specifically in the Alaska mining market.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Collaboration and mentoring are cornerstones of Geosyntec s culture. We operate under a sell-manage-do culture, and so we expect that you d work on challenging technical projects while leveraging your existing knowledge and experience to help Geosyntec expand its current practices and capabilities through business development and client management. You may also be asked to take on project management responsibilities, along with staff management and development, and mentoring tasks.

Some of the key responsibilities for this position include:

  • Managing, permitting, planning, licensing, compliance and environmental oversight of mining infrastructure and liability projects;
  • Managing multiple projects within the scope/budget/schedule expectations and ensuring quality standards on project deliverables;
  • Managing the overall delivery of projects including, project planning and controls, financial management, change management, risk management, and contract/subcontract management;
  • Effectively stewarding and building client relationships for repeat business;
  • Developing business opportunities with new and existing clients and preparing associated proposals;

Here are some other things you should know about this position:

  • Training: This position requires OSHA/MSHA health and safety, first aid, and CPR training and medical monitoring, paid for by the firm. We also offer professional development opportunities including technical conferences, in-house seminars, webinars, and mentoring, that allow our professionals to build the technical and business skills necessary to become successful consultants.
  • Fieldwork: Up to 10%
  • Overnight travel: Up to 20%

EDUCATION AND LICENSURE

  • Bachelor s degree in civil, geotechnical, or environmental engineering; geology; engineering geology; or other applicable related degree. (required)
  • Advanced degree in the same. (preferred)
  • Professional registration (i.e., P.E. P.G.). (required)

SKILLS, EXPERIENCE AND QUALIFICATIONS

  • At least 8 years of experience within or supporting the mining industry with experience and networks in the Alaska mining market; or equivalent combination of education and experience. (required)
  • Experience in managing permitting, planning, compliance and environmental oversight of mining projects. (required)
  • Experience managing the overall delivery of projects including, project planning and controls, financial management, change management, risk management, and contract/subcontract management. (required)
  • Experience with the environmental regulations relevant to mining, including the National Environmental Policy Act (NEPA), Clean Air Act, Resource Conservation and Recovery Act (RCRA), Clean Water Act, Toxic Substances Control Act, and Alaska-specific (Alaska Administrative Code) regulations. (required)
  • Current OSHA 40-hr HAZWOPER and MSHA Part 46 and 48 training and refreshers. (preferred)
  • Ability and willingness to perform fieldwork and travel. (required)
  • Valid U.S. driver s license and a satisfactory driving record for business travel. (required)
