Brief Position Overview

Primary duties are split between accounts receivable functions and student accounts support, with opportunities to cross train in all areas of accounting at the college.

Duties and Responsibilities
Accounts receivable

  • Process and post all college receivables, including cash, checks, credit cards, wires and ACHs, and interunit journals
  • Create invoices and post payments for all non-student accounts receivables
  • Provide backup in accounts payable as necessary

Student accounts support

  • Business office side processing student refunds, including interfaces with outside entities
  • Monitor financial aid fund balances and request funds from the Department of Education as necessary
  • Manage and document the past due balances of student accounts debts held by the MT Department of Revenue Offset program and outside collection agencies
  • Accurately track collections and record payments received from MT Department of Revenue or outside collection agencies
  • Provide backup in student accounts office as necessary

Required Qualifications – Experience, Education, Knowledge & Skills

  • Associates’ degree in accounting or related field
  • Microsoft Office such as Excel, Word, and Outlook
  • Effective customer service skills in an office environment
  • Effective written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills
  • Must be bondable

Preferred Qualifications – Experience, Education, Knowledge & Skills

  • Accounting software experienceGovernmental accounting experience
  • Higher education accounting experience
  • Two years’ experience in accounting
