Location Description:
Michael Foods, Inc. located in Wakefield, Nebraska is known as the Baseball Capital of Nebraska. Milton G. Waldbaum and Dan Gardner founded our egg-processing business in 1950 here in Wakefield. Our location raises chickens and produces tankers of liquid egg to be consumed by our processing facilities.
Responsibilities:
POSITION SUMMARY
:
The Accounting Supervisor is responsible for providing support to the farm locations in the areas of variance reporting and explanations, accounts payable, capital and operating budget preparation, monthly journal entry preparation and balance sheet reconciliations.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Assist with timely and accurate reporting of egg production results.
- Assist with month end accounting including completion of monthly journal entries.
- Assist with the completion of the annual planning process.
- Review and reconcile general ledger accounts.
- Provide monthly variance to plan or forecast analysis.
- Assist in the preparation of forecast/plan for review by management.
- Lead capital planning activities for all farm locations including annual plan, monthly cash flow updates, capital project request preparation and fixed asset management.
- Hire, train and supervise accounts payable staff to ensure payables are processed timely and in accordance with company policies.
- Understand and train applicable sales tax rules.
- Maintain internal controls to ensure SOX (Sarbanes-Oxley) compliance.
- Complete and supervise special projects and other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
- Bachelor’s degree in business with emphasis in Accounting or Finance or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Minimum of three years of accounting work experience preferred. SAP experience a plus.
- Previous leadership and/or supervisor experience preferred.
- Excellent oral and written communications skills with strong analytical, problem solving and decision making skills.
- Experience in Microsoft office products, particularly Excel
