Acquisitions & Technical Services Assistant

SUMMARY

The Acquisitions & Technical Services Assistant performs all secretarial duties related to the library in general including, but not limited to, supply and equipment ordering, preparing travel arrangements and public relations materials. Performs final processing for all added library materials, withdrawn and re-classified materials, including recording data for Cataloging and Textbook statistics. Works under the supervision of the Acquisitions & Technical Services Supervisor.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

· Receives and approves receipt of materials from outside delivery services and other agencies.

· Answers incoming phone calls, greet and assist incoming guests with a helpful professional and courteous manner.

· Prepares appropriate travel forms and registration applications for Library Director.

· Responsible for collecting library personnel leave reports.

· Responsible for recording the library staff meeting minutes.

· Responsible for the maintenance of library copiers, keeping inventory of all office supplies, paper, cartridges, etc. and equipment. Compiles a list for the Acquisitions &Technical Services Supervisor of supplies needed for all library departments.

· File office records and prepare public relations materials.

· Final processing (This includes textbooks for the Textbook Reserve Program)

o All added library materials including new, donated, standing orders and duplicate materials.

o Withdrawn materials.

o Re-classified materials.

· Record data for Cataloging statistics.

· Record data for Textbook statistics.

· Accession all added library materials and maintain accession records in Microsoft Excel.

· Perform other related duties as requested by Library Director.

4. Safety: Employee works safely, attends safety training offered/required, and follows appropriate safety rules and regulations. In relation to level of NIMs training completed, participates in incident management preparation, and performs incident duties as assigned.

MINIMUM EDUCATION, TRAINING, AND EXPERIENCE

Required:

· High school diploma or equivalent.

· Proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel and Outlook.

· Strong work ethic.

· Strong problem-solving and multi-tasking skills.

· Detail oriented, professional attitude, and reliable.

· Ability to communicate effectively, verbally and in writing.

· Ability to interact with employees and vendors in a professional manner.

· Ability to work independently with emphasis on accuracy and timeliness.

Salary will be commensurate with qualifications and experience. The preferred start date is March 13, 2023. Review of applications will begin immediately and continue until the position is filled.
