Job description
The City of Austin AmeriCorps VISTA Program works with City departments and local nonprofits to build capacity, in order to provide resources and services to the Austin neighborhoods and communities that may otherwise be left behind by Austin's historic disparities and future growth. The AmeriCorps members serving with the City of Austin AmeriCorps VISTA Program work in such diverse fields as education, health, waste reduction, and housing to cover the myriad ways poverty affects these neighborhoods and communities.
Member Duties : Assist in the coordination and delivery of AAYHF’s six-week Urban University summer program. Connect to relevant coalitions and groups working on summer and expanded learning strategies, such as the Learn All the Time coalition. Connect to relevant coalitions and groups working on early childhood intervention strategies, such as the School Readiness Action Plan (SRAP)/Success by: Directly provide summer learning enrichment opportunities to low-income and at-risk youth participating in Urban University Summer program. Assess opportunities for partnership between AAYHF, Manor ISD, the City of Manor, the City of Austin, Travis County, and other area partners to address an array of whole-child needs. Identify potential collaborative funding/resourcing opportunities to meet identified areas of need. Develop recommendations for action steps in the areas of policy, systems, programs and outreach.
