Animal Care Technologist

Requirements

Care of the goat herd including feeding, watering, cleaning of pens, hoof trims, and other traditional husbandry duties. The position also requires the performance of other routine farm chores including care of grounds, minor patching/painting, equipment repairs, and building upkeep. The ideal candidate must be able to work on a rotating 20-25 hours per week schedule including weekends. Valid Driver’s license is also required. The position reports to the Animal Care Supervisor.

Qualifications

The position requires employees to physically handle large animals weighing between 100-150 pounds each on a daily basis. Employees must also be able to lift large numbers of bales of hay and shavings weighing up to 50 pounds per bale on a daily basis. The position will require the employee to regularly and consistently stand, twist, bend and lift on a daily basis. Nittobo America Inc. may require and pay for a pre-employment physical to be sure the successful candidate can perform the physical requirements of the job as described above. A written report addressed to Nittobo America Inc. from the medical professional must state whether the person can or cannot perform the physical requirements of the job.

Working Environment

This is not a traditional farm animal husbandry position. Respect for the good health and ‘personal’ care of our herd is critical to the company’s success. The position must work cooperatively and pro-actively with other farm employees to ensure this result. The farm facility itself and animal care are subject to regulation and inspection by the US Department of Agriculture. Farm equipment, animal pens, and real estate facilities are also subject to inspection by our customers, and must be maintained at the highest standards of safety and physical appearance.

Pay: $12.75 - $19.00 per hour
