The Application Technician position will be based out of Repligen's Rancho Dominguez, CA office, and report directly to the Princpal Application Scientist. Some travel (local and domestic), <10%, may be required.
- Design and conduct experiments involving filtration devices involved in both up- and downstream applications, including clarification/harvest, perfusion, and UF/DF.
- Develop and design prototype filters, applications, and workflows for novel processes with little to no precedent or established SOP.
- Perform basic to complex operations aseptic operations with cell culture-based applications in shake flask, fed-batch, and perfusion platforms.
- Independently perform in-process and post-process testing and analytics, including UV-Vis, cell counting/viability, DLS, and protein quantification
- Support product verification and validation efforts for new product launches and existing product lines.
- Display ownership, operate and maintain analytical instruments as intended. Perform calibrations, preventative maintenance, and coordinate service for each instrument as required.
- Properly record and maintain a lab notebook, and to critically analyze data for reports, presentations, and internal and external meetings and collaborations.
- Successfully collaborate with other departments including engineering, field applications and sales to accomplish individual and company objectives.
- Minimum Bachelor’s Degree in a scientific field required, BS preferred. Experience in cell biology, chemistry, chemical engineering, or related field is preferred.
- Understanding of membrane based filtration technologies including hollow fibers and flat sheets is preferred.
- Knowledge and understanding of lab-based work technique and etiquette.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- The ability to work independently and within multidisciplinary project teams.
- Excellent oral and written communication abilities and strong interpersonal skills to communicate with internal and external team members.
