EMEA Discipline Manager – Architectural – Advanced Facilities Electronics - EU wide locations

This exciting opportunity has arisen within the EMEA Electronics Business Unit due to an expansion of our EMEA business. The business unit works with blue chip multinational companies in the Semi-conductor industry, Data Centres, Research & Development facilities and other hi-tech facilities.

About the opportunity:

A key member of the EMEA Electronics Team with responsibility for leadership & direction of the Architectural team.

Key Responsibilities include:

The role involves managing daily staff assignment and technical oversight. The successful candidate will also be responsible for developing and implementing our growth and development plans for the Architectural discipline. The role works in conjunction with the Head of Engineering and Global Architectural Discipline Manager.

The role also includes: liaison with clients, recruitment of personnel, staff training and development, developing innovating working methods and practices, ensuring the department complies with international safety standards and regulations, department oversight of quality compliance, approving capital cost and professional services budgets for all Architectural work within the region.

Key aspects of the Role

  • Delivery of Architectural solutions which are best in class.
  • Drive continued integration with Global Design Centres.
  • Preparation & verification of Architectural pro-service budgets, developed as part of the overall Proposal Development phase; ensuring implementation of the as-sold engineering strategy and budget.
  • Work with the Quality Manager to ensure Jacob’s policies are implemented.
  • Support the project team in delivering the defined Architectural scope to the required quality, and to programme and budget.
  • Provide overall management, guidance, and direction to the Architectural Team.
  • Assist in the overall project delivery, including participation in Bidding & Proposals, Project Strategy meetings, Monthly Project Reviews, Audits, etc. Taking responsibility for adherence to budget and schedule and develop commercial awareness for the department.
  • Support the Sales team with proposals and at presentations as required.
  • Oversight, forecasting and management of Architectural team resourcing.
  • Management & direction of recruiting strategy within the Architectural Team
  • Build and maintain effective working relationships with other disciplines / groups.
  • Ensure understanding and application of responsibilities about the Company’s Environment, Health, Safety, Security and Quality Standards.
  • Establish & maintain contact with relevant professional institutions and academia.
  • Introduce and support the development of Architectural /engineering policy, strategy and best practices into design, management and delivery.
  • Assist graduate and staff development.
  • Support to corporate activities.
Here’s What You’ll Need:
  • Honours Bachelor's Degree in Architecture
  • Ideally a Registered Architect and hold membership of a Professional Institution.
  • Significant experience, 10 years+ with a substantial amount of experience gained at Lead Architect level, or ideally at management level in a similar environment.
  • Experience gained in a multi-discipline design practice is an advantage. Ideally, experience should include an international element, either working in Ireland/UK on an overseas project or working overseas.
  • Construction and/or site inspection experience.
  • Demonstrable leadership, teamwork and people management skills.
  • Progressive mindset towards innovation and technology enabled execution.
  • A good working knowledge of Project Controls methodologies including estimating, scheduling, progress measure (earned value) and risk mitigation techniques.
  • Good working knowledge regulatory codes and requirements.
  • Excellent oral, written and presentational skills with a particular aptitude for report, documentation and letter writing.
  • Strong ability to identify efficiencies within work process, and to initiate and manage strategies including learning, mentoring/coaching, and attitudes & behaviours as required to achieve a performance excellence culture.
