Project Overview:

The Rio Grande LNG Project is located at a site south of the Brownsville-Port Isabel Highway and north of the Brownsville Ship Channel in Cameron County near Brownsville, Texas. The Project scope includes the detailed engineering, procurement, construction, pre-commissioning, start-up and testing of a greenfield liquefaction and export terminal consisting of up to five liquefaction units and associated facilities, utilizing APCI C3MR technology.


Position Summary:

Responsible for Indirects budgets and supervising and directing activities of construction craft within an assigned area of responsibility. Receives routine supervision and direction in the performance of assigned responsibility from project superintendent.


Responsibilities:

  • Directs craft activities, through craft supervision, within the area of responsibility. Monitors and ensures that the quality of work performed meets requirements.
  • Analyzes workforce, material, and equipment requirements, and coordinates the area discipline work plan requirements with others as designated by supervising superintendent.
  • Implements and enforces policies, procedures and related work rules as established by field construction management.
  • Prepares reports and forecasts, as required, and keeps supervisors informed on progress of overall assigned activities.
  • Assists superintendents in the preparation of construction methods, schedules, manning charts, and scaffold requirements.
  • Supervises and directs subordinate non-manual personnel, as assigned.
  • Ensures Zero Accident Philosophy and requirements are implemented and adhered to by craft and others when in the operational area, and tools and equipment are in safe condition and operated safely.
  • Main scope will be managing all indirect activities and budget including construction equipment and tools.
  • Providing scaffolds in pipe racks for pipefitters, welder’s, painters, insulators and electricians. Some scaffolds may be near water in marine environment on barge, quay area.
  • Superintendent will be responsible to plan work according to project schedule, writing requisitions for additional manpower, ordering tools and equip for the Scaffolding group. Coordinating a min/max system for tools & consumables for scaffolding group with the tools manager.
  • Thorough knowledge of all types of tube and clip and systems scaffold is essential.
  • Managing and maintaining scaffold erection and inspection logs for the scaffold tag system.
  • Superintendent will have sole responsibility to manage the Scaffold yard, schedule and perform preventative maintenance and repair of all scaffolding components.
  • Manage all scaffolders and ensure a period of time spent onsite scaffold yard to familiarize themselves with all the different types of scaffoldings on site and learn the handling. Loading, unloading, sorting, maintenance system.


Qualifications and Skills:

  • Minimum 5 years experience in scaffolding supervision at Superintendent level and minimum 3 years overseas experience in working overseas assignments in Heavy Industrial Plants i.e. gas fired power generation/ gas turbines & refineries. Experience in installing scaffold decks for turbines and compressors.
  • Experience in scaffolding, pipe racks, equipment decks, fin fan decks in marine environment.
  • Knowledge of a single or multi-discipline construction or engineering operation relating to field activities.
  • Knowledge of Bechtel’s Zero Accident Philosophy.
  • Knowledge of the Project ES&H handbook, the Supervisor’s ES&H Manual, the Project Safety Management Plan and the Bechtel Core Processes.


Additional Information:

Work includes field inspections and the physical ability to conduct field inspections which require the following activities: extensive walking in and around a construction site, climbing ladders, climbing scaffolding, working on elevated platforms, working on uneven surfaces and working in small or confined spaces and lifting up to 50 lbs. Must have the ability to walk into and out of the project (enter/egress). Must be able to use appropriate standard issued Personal Protection Equipment (PPE) required for each assigned task (i.e. harness, life vest, lift buckets, etc.)
